Restored Cottage near River Ribble This cottage, as late as the 1950's, was the home of the ferryman. Anyone wishing to cross the River Ribble could hail him (even from the opposite shore) He would then row people across the river for a few pence. Because of the ferry and the proximity of Hacking Hall the place was known as "Hacking Boat"

"Fantastic stay with Barry, Barry was very helpful, friendly, accommodating and showed us everything we needed. The annexe was exceptionally clean, bed was very comfortable, also a great range of breakfast options which we were not expected so a lovely bonus to the stay. The property is not far from the train station and is in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend. There was one thing we weren't happy about. At check in, we were told we needed to pay £10.00 for parking for two nights. We had not been made aware of this charge until we arrived at the hotel."
