Greasley Castle Farm. Nicholas de Cantelupe's manor house stood close to the Church of St Mary (in the background of this image). He fortified the house and it became known as Greasley Castle. The remains of the fourteenth century building been incorporated into farm buildings still in use today.
Stables at Moorgreen. D. H. Lawrence's "Country Of My Heart" as seen from the top of the tower of St Mary's Church, Greasley. Benjamin Drawater, ship's surgeon to Captain Cook, is buried in the churchyard at St Mary's. In the middle distance, Eastwood Church can be seen towards the left of the picture.
