Palazzo Santa Maria - Historic Hotels of Europe

"We had a fantastic stay at Palazzo Santa Maria and would highly recommend it. From the moment Nicholas collected us from the port, the hospitality was exceptional. He is an incredibly kind and attentive host and couldn’t have done more for us – helping with taxis and restaurant bookings, offering recommendations, and even driving us to Ano Syros one evening and giving us advice on where to eat and what to see. The hotel itself is beautiful – a historic building restored impeccably, combining its original character with modern luxury and everything you could need. Our upgraded room was finished to a very high standard, the bed was extremely comfortable, and despite being only a short walk from the centre, the area was wonderfully quiet. We slept incredibly well throughout our stay. Breakfast was another highlight: simple but done exceptionally well, with lovely table service from Anna, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cakes, continental options, eggs and freshly made coffee each morning. A beautiful hotel, wonderful hosts and a perfect example of Greek hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return."

"The views from the hotel are breathtaking! The location is perfect for enjoying all of Syros, especially Asteria Beach. If you want loungers at Asteria, reserve in advance. We had two sea view rooms in the historic building for three nights. The staff was friendly and always helpful. The bar was great for drinks before going to dinner and the breakfast each morning was delicious. The mattresses were stiff, which is the only minor complaint. Highly recommend!"

The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with stylish, immaculately clean rooms that are both comfortable and relaxing. The location is perfect—just a short stroll from the beach and within easy reach of everything we wanted to explore, while still offering a peaceful atmosphere. The restaurant was another highlight. Breakfast was excellent, and every meal we had was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is exceptional. What really makes this hotel special, though, is the people. Every member of staff we met was genuinely friendly, professional. It's rare to find a hotel where everything just works so well, but Armlia Hotel has managed it. If you're visiting Syros, do yourself a favour and stay here.
