About this property

Doca's Refuge by Homie

  • Welcome to Doca's Refuge, a welcoming apartment just a stone's throw from Doca do Cavacas, known for its charming natural pools and proximity to Madeira's sea.

Upon entering the apartment, you will find a spacious living room, connected to the kitchen through a practical breakfast bar.

The kitchen is fully equipped, ideal for preparing meals with complete comfort. The living room, spacious and cosy, was designed to convey serenity through its décor inspired by the ocean's blue tones, reflecting the maritime spirit of its privileged location.

On the same floor, you will find the master bedroom, with direct access to a welcoming balcony — perfect for enjoying breakfast outdoors or dinner.

This balcony extends and connects to another outdoor space, equipped with comfortable furniture, including a table, chairs and a sofa, providing the ideal setting for moments of relaxation.

The house also has a functional bathroom, equipped with a bathtub to relax after a day exploring the island.

The location is another major highlight: just a few steps away you have everything you need, from supermarkets and restaurants to beaches and leisure spots, to enjoy the best that Madeira has to offer.

Doca's Refuge is the perfect place for those seeking to combine convenience, proximity to the sea and the unique experience of living Madeira authentically.

We inform you that, from 28 September 2026, renovation works will begin on the building, with an expected duration of approximately 12 months.

The works will focus mainly on the building's façades, paintwork and common areas. During this period, there may be some noise during daytime hours, always within the schedules permitted by law.

Due to the nature of the works, scaffolding, equipment and construction materials may also be used, which may temporarily obstruct the view from the balcony, depending on the phase and duration of the works.

Guests are responsible for the proper use of the accommodation and its respective equipment. Damage, loss or misuse identified during or after the stay may be subject to the application of a damage fee, intended to cover repair, replacement or extraordinary cleaning costs.

Since 2017, we have welcomed travellers from all over the world to our beloved island of Madeira, with a commitment to providing memorable experiences and excellent service. We started as Madeira Sun Travel, a name that reflected the sun, comfort and welcoming spirit that has always guided us.

Over time, we realised that we wanted to go further: more closeness, more authenticity, more connection.

That's how Homie was born. More than a new name - a new way of being.

Each stay is thought through in detail to be special and welcoming. Each house has its own story. And each guest is welcomed like an old friend.

In addition to comfort and hospitality, we also provide, upon request, additional services such as car rental, activity bookings, personalised experiences and much more - all so you can make the most of Madeira.

Whether you're a traveller looking for a special spot or a property owner looking for someone to care for your home with dedication, you're in the right place.

We also inform you that check-ins after 22:00 have an extra fee of €20, paid to our host at the time of check-in.

We arrived FNC 1100. They wouldn't let us leave our luggage in the property, claiming cleaning was to be done (they can't clean around a couple of wheeled suitcases?). Waited at FNC for 4hrs & arrived 1600 as arranged. No-one turned up to let us in for another 30mins.Despite stating "kitchen is fully equipped" and " home away from home" it's nowhere near. Kitchen equipment missing: salad spinner, whisk, masher, mixing bowls, jugs, can opener, baking trays, toaster and not enough mugs.Broken washing machine replaced within a couple of days. No: laundry basket, clothes pegs (a few provided on request), dustpan brush & mop/bucket (ditto), microwave instructions, oven knob icons had been wiped, side tables & bedside cabinets - we used chairs/stools/floor.Some hosts provide equipment when asked but not here. The water did not get hot enough till someone came to fix the gas pressure.Pros: location, next to Lido promenade, on 3 bus routes inc yellow tour; grocer with bakery, alcohol & limited fruit/veg; plenty of towel rails; frostless fridge/freezer; salt, pepper, oil & vinegar, toiletriesCons: road noisy, heavy traffic (OK at night); dark apartment (poor design); kitchen badly designed (wrongly hinged fridge/freezer, drawer unit fouled by oven door); bed small, comfortable but vast duvet didn't fit covers; small open balcony; larger enclosed one, windows filthy quickly; building needs repair; rubbish area not emptied/cleaned often enough; spa bath rusty with no instructions.
No side tables
Bedside shelf inadequate
Only one oven glove to lift heavy casseroles (lucky we bring our own) - only one small saucepan with long handle
Washing machine unusable with missing buttons, should have been checked by cleaners
