"What a contrast to my last hotel (Balmoral Lodge, Southport ). St Michael's was everything I want from a B&B and more. Beautiful vintage furniture, period features, immaculately clean, lovely owner, great atmosphere. Loved it and the presence of a coffee machine, a fridge and a balcony (looking over the garden) made this a great experience. . 10/10 Excellent

"We enjoyed our stay. We took the bus into and back from the downtown part of Inverness easily. The hotel isn't the newest, but the bed was more comfortable than some other hotels we stayed in during our trip to According. The staff were friendly and helpful. My guy really loved the haddock at the restaurant, and the free breakfast was nice. It was a bit hot during our stay (very uncommon), so while a fan would have been nice to cool is down at night, we got by with an open window. We'd stay here again."

Macdonald Aviemore Highland Hotel

"We traveled with other family, so we had two rooms. Check in was very rough. Once we finally found the correct building and desk, the two people at check-in were quite rude. When we got to the rooms, one of the room was lovely, lots of nice amenities. The other room had no amenities (no shampoo, conditioner, robes, etc); it also had a broken shower. When the desk was called, no one answered. Breakfast was a similar situation; the first morning, they were out of pastries, sourdough bread, potatoes, etc. The second day everything was there, and breakfast was lovely. The kids enjoyed the pool, and we enjoyed some hiking in the Cairngorms. Our checkout was much better than checking in; the gentleman was very friendly and helpful. Downtown Aviemore was quaint with shops, restaurants, and the train station. All were within walking distance. Overall, a very inconsistent, but average stay."

"No air conditioning. Bed was very, very uncomfortable. Only one flat pillow per person. Only one towel in room for three people. Fold out as second bed was horrible as well. Carpet was dirty. This room should have cost $100 at most. It does not reflect the pics. Would not stay there again. Over $300 for one night and it’s a motel at best"

Kincraig Castle Hotel

"This property was severely lacking for the price point. We have stayed in “ castles” before, so we know what to expect. Kincraig’s exterior looks dirty. The roof needs attention. There are missing slates. The windows need some type of weather seal to help keep moisture from coming in rooms. Our pillows and bedding were damp. The bedding was very poor. They did have a mattress cover, but instead of a fitted sheet, they used a flat sheet. The pillows were the worst! They were flat and didn’t fluff. The wallpaper on the ceiling and walls were noticeably starting to peel. There wasn’t any soap by the sink. Glasses by the sink were put straight on the surface, not on a paper doilie. We did not have any extra toilet paper and had to swipe some from the gents in the hall. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and hall. Parts of the shower were really dirty. The common room and dining room were okay, but you could see peeling wallpaper and water marks on ceiling and walls. The decor was weird, mixing old traditional furniture you would expect with contemporary stuff (glass bubble lamps). Breakfast was okay. Dinner was overpriced for what it was. They tun on a skeleton staff. Vijay makes the experience better. A young 15 year old girl ,at dinner, was also very good. This place needs a good scrub, new bedding, and a rebrand. The actual place doesn’t match photos presented. It looks more like a hunting lodge."
