"Cave B&B. Right at the heart of old Matera city. Driving there is not possible, so either have a small luggage or be ready to drag the luggage through medieval streets. There’s a Maison or Casa Cava that is close to drive by to load and unload the luggages, but still hard to drive to. Just a heads up. The host speaks little English. Breakfast has a great selection and very fresh."

"We found Hotel Aquatio to be a unique and truly special place — a perfect blend of luxury, history, and thoughtful modern design. The architecture and cave interiors are stunning, and every corner feels carefully considered. The service was exceptional throughout our stay. Everyone we met — from reception to the spa team, the restaurant staff, and even the cleaners — was consistently friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. It made the whole stay feel relaxed and welcoming. The spa and pool were a real highlight. Swimming in the atmospheric cave pool was unforgettable — calming, beautiful, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before.
