This former quarry is now a hundred-plus acre park managed by the town of Fairborn. There are walking and horseback trails and you can easily run at least 3 miles along the perimeter path. The center of the old quarry is a bizarre flat open expanse quite uncharacteristic of this wooded area of Ohio. Rainfall has created several shallow ponds of crystal clear water that is a delight for wading. This park is definitely a hidden gem of Fairborn!

Tucked way back behind the main sports fields and playgrounds of the community park is another section with a pond and walking path and these types of moonrise.
This former quarry sits in the middle of the rolling wooded hills of Ohio, so it's bizarre to walk through the center of the carved-out bowl where there is nothing but grass and rock and clear blue sky. Rain has collected into shallow ponds with waving marsh grasses, which the pups love. The scenery reminds me of the Western plains, so it's a nice treasure to find in the middle of farmland Ohio.
What an awesome find in downtown Fairborn!! This little cafe/tea room is a perfect place for a light lunch or afternoon tea and dessert. The decor is very cute, classic lacy English tea room. Chef Julie makes everything by hand and it's delicious. In early December, she serves a full "high tea" to celebrate the holidays. One of a kind in the Dayton area!

My daughter is at Wight State which is basically across the street from this hotel and the large strip of neighboring dining and hotel establishment. It's all very nice and convenient. Feels totally safe. Friendly people.
