Edmondsham House Described as a Grade II* Tudor manor house with Georgian additions, the original Tudor house consisted of just the central portion. This was built in local brick for its owner Thomas Hussey in two stages, the bottom two storeys first, followed by a third storey of Dutch style gabling that was completed in 1589. The two outer wings with their Dutch or Flemish style gables were added by his descendant John Fry Hussey between 1740 and 1750. After his death in 1760, the house passed by descent through a succession of ownerships to the Monro family. In 1825 their eldest son Hector married Henrietta Tregonwell, the daughter of Lewis Tregonwell, generally acknowledged to have been the founder of the seaside town of Bournemouth. A period of alterations and remodelling followed well into the next century, which included stucco rendering in 1837 of the old Tudor brickwork at the front of the house. To this day, The house is still owned by a descendant of the same family.
