We had to evacuate Quito emergently during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Unable to get a flight that night, we purchased nights at the Hotel Alpachaca for $20 / night / room. Turning onto the dirt road, we were nervous. Happily, the hotel was well built, clean, and staffed by friendly people. The next morning they served us a breakfast of bread and cheese sandwiches, cooked-to-order eggs, and tea or instant coffee. And... the entrance of this place is a big steel door that slides open when you get out and push the call button. It is a family run business including taxi pick up and drop off at the airport which is very nice and comforting. As I entered the premises I was truly impressed with the layout and cleanliness of the establishment. My room was clean and comfortable as well. Very nice place to stay near the airport. If I travel through Quito again that is definitely my place to stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for clean, comfortable and inexpensive place while passing through Quito....
