"Clean room and polite staff. The spa was sup"

"Had a lovely stay. This hotel is modern, clean and the staff are friendly. I would absolutely recommend this place. There’s parking literally next door to the hotel which makes everything easy."

"⭐⭐ Disappointing stay — facilities not worth the price Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with my stay. The hotel feels very dated and considering the price, I expected a much better standard of accommodation and facilities. There were also several issues with the room. The ground-floor window would not lock, which was concerning from a security point of view. The shower-to-bath setting didn’t work, and the bathroom extractor fan could not be switched off. It was extremely loud and kept...

"Breakfast was good. Room was good and bathroom excellent."

"Lovely hotel, staff friendly and very helpful. Spa is wonderful."

"Great breakfast, really enjoyed the swimming pool and hot bed. Lovely grounds and in a great location."

"We stayed at The Cottage in The Wood for one night during a mini-tour of the UK. The hotel is unique, an amazing location and the room we had was generous and well appointed with lovely touches. We enjoyed the food very much - high quality menu, beautifully presented (including the excellent breakfast). It should be noted that whilst Expedia promotes the hotel as pet friendly - which it is from an accommodation point of view with a lovely blanket and other elements provided - unfortunately the...

"Room was lovely and clean and we had a modern bathroom. Staff were very friendly, food was excellent and service was great. Parking was easy and cheap (6 pounds I think) and the property is gorgeous. We had a room upstairs which was fantastic, our friends had one down the corridor which was different and not as nice. The only thing was the bed - it was extremely hard and impacted our ability to sleep well. If there was a topper or a different mattress I would stay again in a pinch, or just stay...

"On arrival I was told I’ve been downgraded to a standard room after paying for a premium room. Pretty rude staff wouldn’t change your alter and just saying I will just take it off the bill at the end. That wasn’t the answer what the answer I wanted was I’m sure your room isn’t available, but we can upgrade you to Different room, ordered two £40 steaks meals most of it was Fat with about eight chips overall we won’t be coming back really underrated for what you"

"Stayed for two nights as a stop over whilst going homeward. Wanted to have a look around the area. Room was small but adequate. Clean with en-suite shower. Ate in the dining area of the pub both nights and enjoyed the food. Informal but friendly service by all, and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Recommend a walk to the canal and then the walk to Gloucester on the tow path. It’s well paved and flat and about three miles."

"Extremely disappointing experience. I didn’t even stay the night and had to book another nearby hotel instead. The smell was awful, from the corridors right into the room. The room itself looked nothing like the photos advertised on their website. It was extremely basic, with just a bed and not even a headboard. The bedding also looked old, worn out, and tired. Overall, the place was nothing like what I expected based on the photos and description. I would never stay here again and would not...

"Failed to clean room Staff rude to guest after over charging at bar. Additional £40 charged to card which I will challenge. No eggs for breakfast.... Stayed here many times in the past but need to clean up their act...."
