"Very charming property with a warm welcome center and a friendly, helpful smile behind the desk. I was looking for a quiet weekend ‘staycation’ with my pup to recenter and enjoy the beauty of Texas landscape. 5 stars. The pool was excellent, great star gazing, and a breath of fresh air from the city. Next time I’ll bring my gal pals to kick up our heels and rent a few cabins as a glam getaway. Thanks! "The Utopia River Retreat was just what we needed after 3 nights camping out in Big Bend. The cabin we stayed in (Kickapoo) was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed (cooking utensils, bath towels, linens). The grounds were peaceful and scenic and had a nice swimming pool and volleyball net as well as riverfront access. "Not as advertised!Double wide outdated trailer. Clean, hot water and heat fine, quiet setting. Ceiling fans in bedrooms were not usable. My bathroom needed at least shampo and a hairdryer. The nice deck is a .4 mile walk. Nice views of hills but no rocky mountains! Upgrading pillows and bedding would be a plus!We made it work but disappointed. "

"This facility is so much bigger than I expected. The cabin we stayed in is not new by any means and they have newer and bigger ones but for what we paid it was an exceptional deal. If you have an RV or motor home I think it would be great for a weeks stay or longer. It was cool watching the deer at sunrise and sunset. Beautiful country for motorcycle riding."

"The property is nestled in the Medina mountains in an 11 room resort and spa. The owners met with us each night sharing stories, laughs, wine and food. In the morning we hiked up the mountain trail to a cabin with a back deck that overlooked the hillside. If you want peace, quiet, no children and good old fashion conversation you will not find any better than Escondida Resort. The entire staff is humble, courteous and good people to share a cup of coffee or a laugh. I highly recommend this...

"The Host and Kevin were very welcoming. Kevin was very helpful and friendly. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Coffee bar was well stocked. Beds were comfortable. AC/Heating unit makes it easy to sleep. Our dogs loved the property. "
