"Staff was friendly, the room was clean. The things I didn’t like, was the parking lot wasn’t plowed properly, it was chunked up with ice which made it hard to carry things back and fourth let alone walking out to the car was difficult. The water from the faucets had an aweful taste, they had a vending machine but it was empty. They offered a filtered water option at the front desk but that wasn’t working either. They did have wifi but the TVs weren’t setup to use it, they did have cable but if...

"Excellent stay! Very clean room with super comfy bed and pillows. The hotel is quiet and had everything I needed. I will be staying here again on my return trip and the Manager called me to confirm and issued a food voucher for my upcoming stay. Very rare these days. I highly recommend and will definitely stay again. "

"I was looking for a stay for just one night. It was an unexpected stay due to prior arrangement the next morning I wanted a place that was simply clean and comfortable. Didn’t need anything that was crazy and I wanted something that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. This place fit the bill looks to be an older building that has been upgraded, which I don’t mind and everything was clean, tidy, and the bed was comfortable."

"Room was very nice. Great updates. HOWEVER...something needs to be adjusted on the heating vent system. When it goes on "click, click, click"...and 3 LOUD metallic bangs with same bangs repeating when it turns off. I slept from 3:30 am to 4:45 am. "

"The newly renovated lobby was beautiful. It was a very nice place to sit and wait for the rest of our group when we were heading out. The rooms were very clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. The bar and restaurant for breakfast had great wait staff and good offerings. The only negative was no elevator to get to the second floor. The gentleman working the front desk did help us bring some of the luggage up, however. I would definitely go stay there again."

"It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. Didn’t know that until the day we left...

"Excellent rustic cabin right on the lake. Beautiful spot. Had everything we needed right down to the sounds of the Loon. Host is responsive and excellent. We will most certainly be back. "
