Mt. Vernon Ranch House near Red Rocks and Colorado Mountains, skiing. Est 1860
Historic Mount Vernon House. Red Rocks Amphitheater. Ski Slopes, Golden, Colorado
Greetings and thank you for looking into the Historic, Mount Vernon House. As the name shows this home is comfortably nestled in Colorado’s Mount Vernon Canyon, 20 minutes from downtown Denver and 45 minutes from Denver international Airport. The property can be available for events such as weddings or reunions, please inquire!! Location: The Home is surrounded by a Jefferson County Open Space Park known as Mathews/Winters Park. So, there are many hiking trails within an extremely short walk, and many more within a short drive. You can walk to a local brewery and restaurant. Five minutes to Colorado Mills Mall. Thunder Valley motocross track is 2 miles away. The Home is 2 miles away from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which there is a direct hiking trail. It is also about 2.5 miles from Bandimere Speedway, a NHRA dragstrip. The home is 45 minutes drive away from Loveland ski area, so if you are going skiing and are familiar with the area, you are close to many ski areas! It is very close to Golden which has many niche shopping areas and of course Coors Brewery. On the other end is the quite little town of Morrison which has many unique opportunities for restaurants and shopping. With all above mentioned you have a total secluded feel and still have many amenities nearby. The perfect access to major highways, means at times , in the summer, you may hear the low rumble of some traffic. House: The home is on the National Historic Register, which makes it a real treat to stay in. It was built in 1860. It is built from local quarried stones. So yes, it is old, it but has many modern upgrades such as indoor plumbing, electricity, TVs, internet, appliances and a/c heat. It still retains much of the old feel, like slopping floors, steep stairway, wood floors and two feet thick walls. The walls make the house cool in the winter, but not freezing, just bring a sweater and slippers. The home does have AC, but , and doesn’t need it, once the sunsets a delightful cool breeze always comes down the valley and cools everything down. That makes a perfect night for BBQing and being by the fire pits. We also have the Mount Vernon Creek running directly in the front yard. There is a totally private deck on the back of the home, perfect for sunbathing or yoga. The yard is green grass with plenty of flower beds around. There is also plenty of wildlife around, depending on the season, mule deer are around all year, elk can be seen in the fall and spring and on occasion bobcats, rattlesnakes, wild turkeys, mountain lions, bears, skunks, foxes, Red tail hawks and coyotes. So be prepared for nature if the mood is right! Do not think this is a modern exclusive villa. Its a fun old, rustic house. Accommodations: The house can sleep 10 comfortably. 3 main bedrooms and one room that can sleep kids or adults. All the bedrooms are upstairs as they were in the old days. Upstairs there are 2 bathrooms. One, in the master bedroom has a shower, toilet and newer heavy-duty washer/dryer, the other is in the hallway between the bedrooms, it has a toilet and a sink. The Main level has a large living room, a large fold out couch is comfortable for sleeping. A large office type or gaming area, there is an air mattress, a bathroom with a bath tub and a kitchen. The kitchen has granite counters, a dishwasher and a table to sit 5, plus a trash compactor, a 5 burner gas stove top, a microwave and a convection oven. PLEASE NOTE : The home is old and so is the plumbing ! If you and I don't want a mess PLEASE do not flush feminine products ! PLEASE ALSO, no grease or oil in the drains ! Also any larger food stuff should go in the trash and small food from rinsing dishes is fine for the disposal. No one wants extra plumbing charges. PLEASE NOTE: there is a low noise limit at 9PM we can still converse but my neighbors are older and they have requested 9PM. It seems to echo over to their house. This home is so outstanding , it’s only reserved for special people!

The house is very unique and in a beautiful location, very convenient to Golden and Red Rocks. Hiking trails abound. It is an old house however that shows its age. Plumbing and kitchen are dated. Only one shower upstairs and one closet.
Lovely historic home, very comfortable stay for many adults. Perfect location for many day trips to Downtown Denver, beautiful scenic drives, Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Amphitheatr, Rocky MTN NP, Dinosaur Ridge, Gold mine tours, the list goes on and on! Amphitheatr,DinosauRidge
Great Location!! We really enjoyed the quaintness of the property and location. Wi-fi was great, as well as all of the other amenities. Would love to stay there again!!
Came to watch concert at Red Rocks. Great location, very cool history with this place and has a wonderful outdoor area.
Will stay again next time for sure.
Great communication also.
We loved the house and how close it is to Red Rocks! We enjoyed our coffee out on the front porch every morning and enjoyed the patio area in the evenings! Very peaceful and restful place!
This historic home was a fun twist on our friends/family trip. The landscape was beautiful and we enjoyed a couple evenings out on thr patio. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. And we enjoyed hiking to Red Rocks! Highly recommend!
We couldn’t have asked for a better location for our first Red Rocks concert. The home was charming in a beautiful setting and so close to the amphitheater. If you love a home with a history this will check all your boxes. We highly recommend!
The owner was so hospitable. Super clean. The very best place hands down if you are going to Red Rocks. Everything is so close and convenient. The house has so much character and history and the property is peaceful. Plus Eldridge the
The house is set in a beautiful scenic area with a cold stream in the back yard! Has everything you could possibly need. There were 8 adults and there is plenty of room inside and out.
We loved the history of this home and authentic Colorado experience. Plenty of space for everyone. The patio was perfect for us to hang out and enjoy the Colorado evenings. Super close to everything! Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us!
Our family liked the homey atmosphere, the personal touches of the house, being out near Red Rock and the hiking nearby. We even saw deer one early evening eating grass near the house. This home and the surroundings gave us many great memories which we will cherish. Thank you Dennis!
The house is amazing. The location is 15 min from a Walmart in multiple directions. 10 min drive to red rocks. WiFi is great! Ran multiple tv’s and phones no problem. Signal worked great for T-Mobile and Att. Very quiet and secluded location. Stayed for a week and loved the kitchen area for family cooking. Great stay would recommend.
As advertised. Very neat old, historic home. Saw a big buck out the bedroom window and a doe and her fawns in the front yard. Clean and everything works. Close to Red Rocks, hiking, downtown Golden and lots of things to do.
My daughter was married at Boettcher mansion and this home was ideal for our family. The host allowed us to have our rehearsal dinner at the home and everyone simply loved the grounds and home. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Denver area or mountains. Great location, beautiful home!
The house is in a great location, is very secluded but easy access to Denver, Golden, and lots of nature activities around. The house itself is very spacious and cozy and has a great space out back for hanging out, and a great living room for watching movies/sports. The host was great and very responsive and helpful, will definitely be staying here again if I’m ever back in the area!
We had a wonderful stay at the Mt. Vernon Ranch House! Nestled just a short drive from the Colorado School of Mines, Coors Brewery, and Red Rocks, this charming home offered the perfect blend of comfort and convenience. The house itself was clean, beautifully furnished, and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The host was also incredibly helpful and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore the area!
We took a rare family vacation and carefully chose this house. It was perfect!! Too many wonderful memories to list them all. We survived a snowstorm and had a blast! Loved finishing the puzzle of Colorado that was left out in the study.
Excellent location.
We are a group of four couples of longtime friends who came to see a concert at Red Rocks. We were only there for 2 nights, but had a great time. The house was easy to get to from the airport and was close to Morrison and Golden. The house is VERY interesting with a lot of history. Due to the time of year, and age of the house,(Halloween) we had a bit of fun with each other over the prospect of the house being haunted, however we never experienced anything to support that. The house was well stocked with what we needed for this quick trip. Dennis was great and we had a wonderful time.
This is such a wonderful place to stay! Whether you’re doing a weekend get away, or hosting an event, you’re sure to have a wonderful relaxing time! We had a intimate wedding ceremony here and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We had asked if they were able to mow the grass before the ceremony, and Dennis went out of his way to make sure that was done in time for us to have the ceremony. Check in, and check out were super easy. The house had all the essentials needed for a nice relaxing stay. It is a very antique and neat place to stay. Definitely give it a try if you’re looking in the area.
Thank you!!
