"We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. "The darling couple who own and run the B&B are extremely delightful. Our hostess started us off in the morning with a delightful breakfast, good cup of coffee and good advice or directions to our days activities. She made sure we enjoyed ourselves. The bonus was the view from the property was gorgeous."

"We enjoyed use of kitchen /dining space, which included tea, coffee, and proper dishes and utensils. We could store extra food in the refrigerator. The warming closet to hang up wet clothes was amazing. Bed was very comfortable. View of lake was lovely. Host was attentive. Great stepping off point for hiking."

"An amazing space to just be & chill out. B & B with decking, area with seating , cosy log cabin & spacious garden area overlooking tranquil loch. Seals can be seen bobbing about & red squirrels are a frequent visitor to the garden. The hosts are exceptionally welcoming and the breakfast includes croissants, fresh fruit & Loch Fyne smoked salmon.
The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean.
There are nearby walks including at Carrick Castle and Donich Falls. The village pub often has...

"The Kelvin Hotel was wonderful place to stay in Oban. The kitchenette was a bonus and the hotel was close to everything and the staff were gracious and helpful. Would definitely recommend it."
"Stay was ok bed was a little hard but each person is different to be far pillows very thin and our shower would not work had to bath and I have a hernia I did mention to staff when leaving so hopefully they will sort that got to say we did have a amazing curry just some small things could make this a very good hotel location gorgeous."
"An amazing gem of a place. Such a dreamy location in the middle of a Glen with the hills all around and a river at the end of a beautiful, well maintained garden. We loved all the bluebells and the wild deer that came so close. Sitting on the patio outside of our room in the morning, listening to the bird song was so peaceful. The room was big and clean and the staff were so friendly. We really enjoyed our breakfast - it used high quality produce. There are many things to see nearby too including Kilchurn Castle, Conan Kirk and it's not too far to Oban. We hope to stay again!"
"To whom it may concern
My room was in third floor with no lift as it wasn't working with my arthritis and waiting on knee replacement is not good no hot tub in use was also sauna also switched off dirty towel left on bathroom from the previous guest 😡😞 my meal meal was slammed down 2 me as if staff couldn't be bothered. Very disappointed stay"
"Beautiful grounds and location !!!
The hotel inside needs updating screams for a makeover , it’s smelly : like damp / mould the carpets are old and dirty but the decor is nice and has the potential to be massively improved , the outside is not reflected inside like they are 2 different properties . Staff all nice and friendly , pool could do with some loungers as there are only 4 to be shared by all families how ? Also the amount of chemicals used in the pool area made our eyes sting and was unpleasant , the pool temperature was perfect . The family room was basic again needs decorating and new carpets , if you have a pool automatically robes should be available in rooms . Breakfast was nice very tasty cooked bfast my husband enjoyed the black pudding said it was the best ! The only thing could be improved is that staff should replenish the bread , pastries etc as quick run out and staff didn’t check"
