2/10 Terrible

"Elevator were not working. Doors were not opening on the bottom. It was terrible. Staff are great."

"After opening the door, we saw the bed was 3 feet from it. We can deal with a smaller room in NY, layout and bathroom were okay. After unpacking and then dinner, noted the tv would not change channels. Tried turning it on and off, and even unplugging it. Couldn't open the remote because the battery cover was screwed down. Went to call the front desk, but the phone was dead. Called on my phone, service tech came in about 15 minutes, and said yeah, they have problems with these tvs because an outside company services them. He had difficulty opening the remote too, did the multiple resets, unplug, and gave me a second remote which turned on the tv. He changed out the phone battery. He left after 45 min, tv did shut off with the new remote. It was now too late to wait for him again , so no tv service (we had planned to watch a movie) at night nor in the morning. Good waste of our time after travel. Saw same front desk person in the morning, complained but he could care less it seemed, no apologies either. Went to breakfast elsewhere, came down to the same front desk person, and asked for a manager. He said manager would be out in 5 minutes. I called an Uber in the meantime which came in about 15 minutes before seeing any manager so we left. The Fairfield down the block was a MUCH better experience, we stayed there 2 nights a few days prior. I wonder if booking through hotels.com instead of Marriott made them treat us different. I'm a Gold Elite member so stay in Marriotts alot."

The Dominick

"The Dominick is an outstanding hotel and, in my opinion, one of the hotels with the best views in Manhattan. The location in SoHo is fantastic, with countless restaurants, cafés, shops, and great places to walk and explore right outside the door. The staff was excellent throughout my stay—friendly, professional, and always helpful. As an Expedia VIP guest, I was hoping for a complimentary room upgrade, but it was not available. I ended up paying an additional $100 per night for an upgraded room, which I honestly didn’t mind because the higher-floor views were absolutely worth it. My biggest complaint would be the elevators. They were, unfortunately, a real challenge. There were multiple occasions when I waited 10–15 minutes for an elevator, and during busy afternoon hours there were often lines. If an elevator arrived full or with large strollers, it usually meant waiting for the next one. The elevator system definitely seems overwhelmed during peak times and could use improvement. That said, the views, location, service, and overall experience far outweigh this inconvenience. I would absolutely stay at The Dominick again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury stay in downtown Manhattan."
