This was our second time staying at Simbavati and though it certainly didn't disappoint, it also didn't surprise. The lodges are very cute and tidy but are short of a TV. The food in the restaurant is good but not excellent. The spa treatments were disappointing, especially for the price. Cederberg is for hiking/biking, more to do at the lodge would be appreciated, otherwise it's not the highest value for money. Having said all that, if you're going hiking for a (single) day and staying for a (single) night, it's probably one of the nicest lodges in the area and the staff is friendly and kind.
It's located in a very secluded, quiet and peaceful area. The superior room is amazing with the view to the mountains, with both indoor and outdoor shower! Candle light bathing in the huge tub with view of sky full of stars is an amazing experience.
The staff are very friendly and made sure all our needs are taken care of!
Fantastic stay at the lovely, well maintained and exceptionally service-minded hotel. No request was too much and all was provided with a smile. Not difficult to understand that they are fully booked for the next 3 months. Well deserved!
We booked 2 nights here in November 2022 and wished we had booked longer.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, the location is amazing and gives you the sense of being disconnected from city life, while affording a level of luxury we didn't expect.
We really enjoyed the activities, we went on the rock art tour which was well planned, interesting and was led by a very knowledgable guide called David. As the hotel is quite small we had all the advantages of being in a small group and had a very curated tour for us. They seemed quite flexible with the activities, so make sure to ask if there is something you particularly want to do.
The food was great, there was enough choice and each meal had an additional chefs special choice, which was always delicious, and different each meal/day.
The property had 2 pools, they were a little cold to swim in during the evening but fantastic for the day, and both had stunning views of the surroundings.
If you are celebrating a special occasion make sure to let them know, we had a fantastic surprise on our last night (no spoilers)
The location would be great for star gazing, unfortunately we came during full moon, but were still able to use their telescope and see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.
I really hope we get the chance to go back, it was hard to leave, and the staff were amazing.
Très bel emplacement, partie restaurant et salon avec terrasse très agréable.
Les chambres sont situées dans des petites maisons au look moyen, mais très belle vue.
une bonne adresse pour un court séjour
Beautiful location and a great place for a calm, relaxing break. Very hot in summer, but the lodge does its best to make things as welcoming and comfortable as possible. Beautiful large rooms with massive bathrooms and dreamy views, all with privacy. A reasonable variety of activities, mostly tours in the area are offered as well. Food is superb, an excellent chef and his team offer a wonderful menu with specials every night that are sublime. Service is very good but a bit inattentive and inconsistent at mealtimes.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully designed hotel in a stunning location. Leisha, Craig and their team went out of their way to welcome us, and nothing was too much trouble. Great service!
The food is delicious, excellent breakfast and evening dinner with interesting menus.
We really enjoy the guided tours led by the very knowledgeable David. He brought the Sami wall art to life for us.
The public areas and rooms are beautiful, go visit!
We had a wonderful stay at Cederberg Ridge. The lodge is in a beautiful location that lends itself to great sunsets and incredible stargazing. The design of the main lodge and of our room were both gorgeous, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The pool was a lovely spot to lounge with a drink or read. The staff without exception was genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful with a variety of interesting activities on offer. (We really enjoyed seeing the indigenous rock art and a sundowner spin, swim, and snack around Clanwilliam Dan. Next time, we'll look forward to the shore excursion). Overall, we found Cederberg Ridge a great place from to enjoy and explore the region.
