"everything was OK but the bathroom toilet was not flushed and somebody had obviously urinated so the whole bathroom smelled. There was not breakfast there. There was a Starbucks with the food subpar."

"We had a great stay at Best Western Carlsbad by the Sea and felt it was an excellent value for the price. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our four-day stay, and the hot buffet breakfast was a great way to start each morning. We stayed in a suite with a kitchen, which was clean, spacious, and a great value. One thing to note is that the kitchen did not come stocked with pots, pans, dishes, or utensils, but luckily we had brought our own, so it wasn’t a problem for us. The location was perfect as a launching point for exploring the area. During our stay we visited the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND, and other nearby attractions, and it was convenient to get everywhere. Before booking, I was a little concerned after reading reviews describing the hotel as old or moldy. Thankfully, that was not our experience at all. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and our room was clean and comfortable. In fact, I’d say the room was no worse than LEGOLAND California Hotel! The only minor downside was the air conditioner, which was a bit noisy. It took us one night to get used to it, but after that it wasn’t an issue. Overall, if you’re looking for a clean, affordable hotel with friendly staff, a good breakfast, and a convenient location for visiting Carlsbad and San Diego attractions, I would definitely recommend Best Western Carlsbad by the Sea."

"We loved our stay at the Cape Rey Carlsbad Hilton resort. My main concern always is cleanliness and our room was super clean. I was very comfortable being there for 4 nights. The property in general is very clean and attractive. The pool area was really nice and we loved having poolside food and drink service. Each day they had a different treat such as sno-cones, cotton candy, etc. We were always able to find lounge chairs and the towels and iced drinking water were plentiful. The restaurant served delicious food. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We got our breakfasts to go and brought to our room. There’s a coffee station as well. We used the valet parking and our car was always quickly available. The beach is right across the street beyond an rv park. The best thing about the resort was the staff! Every single person we encountered was friendly and helpful, and made us feel like they were happy to help us. We will definitely stay there again!"
