Bristol, Tennessee, perhaps most known for its Motor Speedway, has become much more than just a racing town. This frame attempts to display the economical side of Appalachia, while continuing the theme of the drastic contrast in showing both the shopping center and the Appalachian Mountains. This displays why it's so hard to see Appalachia in just one way. You can't really frame the welcome sign without catching a glimpse of the mountains. Also, just outside the frame lies a bigger display of what is being signified on the welcome sign, the mile-long shopping mall. This is a beautiful reminder of what Appalachia has become, but it still retains the natural beauty its always had. #appalachianechoes

Pictured here is a segment of the Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34.3-mile rail-trail stretching from Abingdon, Virginia, to Whitetop, Virginia. According to locals, it has been described as the best mountain bike trail in the east. This trail is open to bikers, hikers, and horseback riders year-round.
