Pilhay Bridge and sluice on Congresbury Yeo river. Pilhay bridge joins the villages of Yatton and Puxton and lies at the end of 'Gang Wall' an ancient walkway over the wetland. The sluices are used to control flooding of the surrounding wetlands which lie below river level. NB: PS reading showed bridge to be 8 feet above MSL.
Puxton, Holy Saviour. Parish Church, Grade I. Largely 15th & 16th Century. North porch dated 1557. Tower leans considerably to west. Inside worth a visit with Reading desk and panelled octagonal pulpit flanking chancel arch, wrought iron hourglass stand by pulpit. Early/mid 16th Century heavy oak pews in most of nave. 5 18th Century box pews. Norman tub font, scraped, 17th Century strapwork cover. 17th Century door with bar at south. Royal arms, 1751 over south door.
The Oldbridge River between Puxton and Hewish The river is viewed facing east or upstream. The river drains into the River Yeo north of Weston Super Mare west of here behind the viewpoint.
