"We recently stayed at the Highlander Hotel in Newtonmore with my girlfriend and had a generally pleasant experience. The hotel is in a very good location, making it a handy base for exploring the surrounding area, and the bus service is excellent, which made getting around straightforward and convenient.
The service throughout our stay was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We also felt the hotel offered good value for money, which definitely added to the overall experience. The bar was another positive point, with a good selection on draught, and Staropramen at £5.80 a pint was very competitive compared with other bars in the area.
While the stay was enjoyable, there are a few areas where the hotel could be improved to make it feel a little more comfortable and modern. The decor in the hotel and room felt quite tired and could really benefit from an update. It didn’t take away from our stay too much, but a refresh would certainly help improve the overall impression. The room was also quite warm during our visit, so having a fan provided would have made a noticeable difference.
Breakfast was fine, but it would be better if it were available until 10:00 am, especially for guests who prefer a slightly later start to the day. Another small improvement would be a key drop-off option for out-of-hours checkout, as I had to go back to the room and leave the key on the table, which wasn’t the most convenient.
Newtonmore itself is a good location, though it is not as livel"
