Balestrand is a lovely little town surrounded by looming mountains and a vast fjord. Walk along the fjord following the 'Culture Trail' (maps available from the Tourist Information Office), encountering beautiful buildings like St Olaf Stave Church, pictured here.
If you are in Norway, make sure you take a fjord tour! While I would love to see it in the summer, this was taken during the winter time. It was dreary and cold on the water, but the beauty of the fjords remains.

Was originally supposed to be just me but I ended up making some friends at the hostel I stayed at in Oslo so they tagged along on the drive with me. Ein sehr schönes kleines Haus, ruhig gelegen mit toller Aussicht. Schön auch die Schafe hinter dem Haus und die netten Gespräche mit der Vermieterin. Wir waren jeden Tag baden, man kann wandern oder Ausflüge in die Umgebung machen.
