"Château de Fère is set in an extraordinary location, and the setting alone makes it well worth a stop. The historic château and its grounds have a real sense of grandeur that is difficult to find elsewhere. The hotel itself is a little tired in places, but everything is perfectly functional. In many ways, that adds to its character and authenticity, rather than feeling like another polished but generic five star chain hotel.
