Wendover Arm: halfway between Hare Lane Bridge (No 8) and Wellonhead Bridge (No 7) The hedge on the Green Park of the disused canal overhangs the water while there is a large field behind the hedge on the towpath side. See 1235539
The Hedge along the Canal Towpath on the Wendover Arm This is the “reverse view” of the mature hedge that borders the canal on the towpath side, as viewed from Cobblers Pits
A Mowed Strip across a Giant Lawn The view over this old farm gate beside the towpath was a surprise. One gets used to seeing fields laid out as pasture but this is different. The way the grass has been mown, the uniform quality, and the apparent absence of weeds gives it the appearance of a well maintained garden lawn, perhaps associated with one of the houses on Stablebridge Road. A month later the grass had grown and there were buttercups and daisies, but apart from a few stems of cow parsley there was no sign of any rank weeds.
Cow Parsley takes over the Edge of the Canal Towpath in May. A month later than some of the other photographs but the canal edge has been taken over by cow parsley. This actually provides a screen which one can look over and see the young water birds - and much of the time they don't seem to notice you. See 1235539
