"Exellent dinner buffet! Free shuttles (reserved) from Asahikawa and to Biei were very convenient. 3 mins walk to the famous Shirogane Bridge for great views. We didn't go to the Blue Pond due to transport logistics and lots of flying insects. Free water bottles and japanese sweets in room. Rooms were nice and clean. The only problem was our 2 rooms didn't have airconditioning, or rather, the central airconditioning is not effective at all. It was too hot to sleep for our 1 night stay in August but we would gladly stay again when it is not that hot."

K's House Hokkaido - Asahidake Onsen Hostel

10/10 Excellent
"Friendly and helpful staff, ability to speak English was a great bonus. The lobby and guest communal area was spacious and very well maintained. I think the no-shoes policy helps. Guests are provided with slippers to wear before entering the hostel. We stayed in the twin room with private bathroom and it was clean and well maintained. Mattresses and pillows are rather soft but still comfortable for a good night sleep. But space inside the room is quite small so people with large suitcases may not be able to open them at the same time. The tattoo-friendly onsen was great amenity to have onsite!"

"We are a family of four and stayed here for one night. The staff spoke limited English, but they were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were able to communicate without any problems. This is an older, traditional Japanese hotel. It’s not luxurious, but that’s exactly the kind of authentic experience we were looking for. Guests can enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, including beer, in the lounge, which was a wonderful touch. My husband and I are heavily tattooed, and we were welcomed into the onsen without any issues, which was a huge bonus for us. The dinner was excellent! I highly recommend booking a meal plan, as the hotel is located in the mountains and there are no supermarkets or convenience stores nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially relaxing in the onsen. We would happily stay here again!"
