"The staff were mostly friendly and helpful if in somewhat small supply. Pool bar on 6th floor barely staffed and not actually by pool. Had to ring to reception to get someone to come up and serve. The decor was a little tired and outdated. Cover to toilet flush fell off although it was quickly put right by the time we came back around lunch - clearly cleaning crew reported it and had it fixed. Old fashioned shower over bath. Hot breakfast wasn’t!! I tried the first two days thinking day one...

"Lovely hotel in a great position in Alfama, can get to most places on foot if you can handle the hills/steps. Staff were really friendly and helpful particularly Carol on breakfast duty and Cape and Sara on front desk. Gym and spa area are a bit limited but with all of the walking the gym wasn’t really necessary. "Hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location! I believe it is fairly new or recently renovated. So many restaurants and shops right outside the front door. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room is well appointed. Plenty of electrical outlets. Great lighting. Has espresso machine, hot water kettle, coffee and tea. Refrigerator with some stocked drinks and snacks. We were at the end of a 5 week trip so we were happy the room had enough space for our luggage. A decent sized closet. Beautiful...

"We stayed here as we wanted to see the monastery, the hotel was good, clean and helpful staff. Our problem was we stayed on a Monday, there were very few restaurants open in the evening near by - except one opposite which we used but was on the expensive side. The Monastery was shut on Mondays too so very little else to do, so we used the spa facilities which were good and we had to ourselves !"

"AC did not work properly in this heat wave. Would go off in a little bit. Room never really cooled. Asked a FO staff if there was a trick to the remote but she couldn't be bothered though she was on the same floor and could have come and checked. The street is closed for the last 3 yrs for vehicle traffic. We were 2 couples, seniors and had to drag 8 bags for a block on cobblestones to reach the hotel from the taxi drop off on the street. "I am obsessed with trains. I didn't pick a train side room because I knew the river was what I wanted more on this trip. but I wish I could've done both at the same time! The staff was courteous and knowledgable. I had to leave too early for breakfast and they offered and it was packed it for me. there is a kettle in the room! this is gold! and they were so good with when I really should leave for the airport and getting the taxi."

"Basic hotel. Rooms clean but small. Bathroom in need of a little maintenance. No bar and outside courtyard space very disappointing. Didn’t take breakfast at €15 each - instead used the excellent ‘Breakfast’ lovers, a few minutes walk away. Staff on front desk friendly and helpful when asked. Hotel in very good central location, but on a steep hill. Very quite within the hotel, except the rumble of the 28e tram."

"Being able to have my complimentary breakfast delivered on a cart when I wanted it in my room. It was fantastic and I got to choose the bread I wanted and it came with cheese and ham and a big glass of refreshing orange juice and I also selected hot chocolate. Everything was delicious."
