2/10 Terrible

"Arrived at the hotel after a 10 hour drive to be told they had cancelled my room. They said it was because I didnt make payment however I was on pay at property on arrival. Hotel was full. Staff didnt help at all and did not care. Had to find alternative hotel /accommodation and was not much availability as something was going on in the area. It may have done me a favour as the hotel looked awful cracked windows, curtains hanging down. To top it off the hotel then 2 days later tried to take payment for a no show."

Pinehurst Lodge Hotel

"I spent five days at the lodge. The staff is excellent. Most have been working at the lodge for 20+ years. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and bathroom was small but functional. I appreciated being able to open the windows at night for fresh air. The pub is first rate. I strongly suggest having breakfast there. They have a selection of yogurts and cereal but the star of the show are the freshly made hot meals. I had eggs with toast and bacon each morning. Each plate is individually made, no warming bins with hours old food like the big chains. On Sunday evening, I had a friend join me for Sunday roast with turkey, beef, and ham. The gravy and all the trimmings were excellent. My friend lamented that he was staying at the courtyard. All in all a first rate stay."

"My stay was for 16 nights for work, I discovered on my third night that the HVAC was not working in my room. I reported this to reception and was informed that they were aware of this and assured me that maintenance would be sorting it the next day, and I was supplied with a fan and a heater - given that the there are only 1 spare power sockets I had to juggle the kettle, fan, heater and charging laptop, phones, ipads etc. After further 3 days I requested a room I requested a room change and was assured that the HVAC was working in the new room. Needless to say it wasn't and I had the daily pleasure of having my hopes dashed that I would have AC that night. Sleep with the window open??? When the weather was good, smokers gather along the front of the hotel and the rooms above inevitably fill with cigarette fumes and with no HVAC to clear the room one, when the weather was bad, I spend the nights opening and closing the window to avoid window banging or rain being blown onto the window sill. I understand that the HVAC repair would take time, but once it was obvious that it wasn't being repaired, why move me to a different room with the same problem - I've spent 96 nights at the Village hotel this year, I'm going to look for alternatives after my next (already booked) stay."

"Very clean room. Staff were first class from reception through to breakfast in morning. Did not use bar or food at night due to my own preference. Had breakfast on two occasions , very early and a bit later and both times was cooked properly and plenty to choose from, with the facility to take away if desired. Ideal location and no issues with anything at all."

"Cons- very poor signage finding room . Room 516 is not as you might expect on the 5 th floor . It’s on the 3rd floor. No maid service over a 3 night stay ! Had to empty our own bins and no fresh towels or beds made , lumpy pillows Restaurant staff ordering was one person doing their best with a big queue every night at 6 pm . Got disturbed at 8 am to install a new smoke detector Pros - bed was comfy . ,room was spacious,"
