"This is an old hotel, and as such needs some major updates! Walking in the hall the floor is very soft, pretty sure the only thing keeping you from fall through is the carpet, the wall paper is falling off the walls, the elevator was a bit sketchy and from the parking lot through the basement to the elevator, was a disaster, pretty sure has not been cleaned in years!
Our room was large, I did find the bed comfortable and the view was amazing! It has potential but it needs some major...
"Very disappointing stay.
We booked two rooms through Expedia, and both were musty, unpleasant-smelling, and poorly maintained. One room looked as though it had not been used for a long time.
Fixtures were loose, there were no proper towel hooks, the shower soap dispensers were empty, and there were flying insects in the rooms, including a squashed mosquito left on the wall.
The rooms felt neglected rather than simply old. Definitely not the standard we expected for the price."
"Property was managed by the sweetest Scottish woman. She provided a cute breakfast that was mostly Continental but she offered home baked croissants and personally pores coffee and tea."
"Bed was comfortable and view from the room lovely. On the downside, few amenities, unfriendly welcome host, bad signage upon arrival. Difficult to tell where to park to enter. Restaurant food was poor and cafeteria-like."
"Great place right in the heart of Oban. 2 minute walk to Oban Distillery. The whisky bar downstairs was really fun and convenient. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful."
"This was our favorite stay of the trip. The hotel decoration is so cool. Room was comfortable. Staff was so nice. The included breakfast was so good. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner and it was also great. All of the staff who helped us were super kind and very attentive. I would love to come back and stay here."
"Despite how it looks on the outside, this is a very nice hotel. The outside looks rough and needs some attention, but our room was lovely. If you have heavy luggage, be aware that you have to bring it up several stairs to reach the lobby (there is no ramp or lift - the stairs are the only way). The breakfast was good, the people were pleasant, and the amenities were fine. The standout feature of this hotel is the location. Oban is a really lovely town and this hotel is right across from...
"This was our 3rd visit to Holly Tree. The room and facilities were spotless.
We have always been impressed by the high standard of the bathroom fittings and separate bath and shower.
Staff were helpful ,courteous and attentive.Food again was excellent and most enjoyable i.e.dinner ,especially enhanced by the wonderful view of the loch. Breakfast was good though fresh fruit was limited-- a minor detail !!
On this occasion we didn't use,the spa and swimming pool though we have in the past and...
"The Dalrigh House was clean and quiet, and those qualities are important to us. However, we thought that "private bathroom" meant that it was exclusively ours. This was a misunderstanding on our part, and we don't blame the hotel for that. We left our towels in the bathroom, thinking that no one else was using it, and they were taken by housekeeping. After that, we tried to contact Dalrigh House via messages, and because we didn't receive a prompt response, we ended up having to use a single...
"The room was inexpensive so I didn't expect a lot. The room was larger than I expected but there were some maintenance issues. There was no hot water in the room so I had to go to a different room down the hall to take a shower that had an electric water heater. The light over the sink in the bathroom didn't work but there was an electric kettle with tea and coffee available. Nice people in a very old building"
