"Check in was chaotic and our evening meal booking was lost! This meant a late evening dining time.
When I got to my room it was obvious the bathroom had not been cleaned (see photo of Bath plug) This was disgusting and reported to reception but it took another day before resolution. No offer was made to change room or compensation.
I have since left messages with manager to try to discuss this issue but had no response which is extremely disappointing and very unprofessional.
I would not come...
"The staff at the Abbey are excellent, by far the best part about the stay. Very friendly with each encounter and extremely accommodating. We had several bags with us, and they made our check-in and check-out much easier by going out of their way to support.
The room itself is satisfactory; it is about what you pay for. Nothing too extraordinary, but more than sufficient for what we needed it for. Although the bathroom wasn’t terribly well maintained, and the shower didn’t drain very well....
"The team were fantastic and really welcoming throughout the stay. The food in the restaurant was top notch ( I highly recommend the bacon steak) as was the breakfast in the morning. The room itself was comfortable with apps available on the TV which is great . Top marks for the shower 10/10 for power. A surprisingly excellent stay."
"The public areas were a bit dark and gloomy. The bedroom was hot and stuffy even with the windows open. Some furniture was quite old fashioned but the bed was comfortable enough. The food was OK but lacked better wine choices. The breakfast was a bit too greasy. Staff were friendly and helpful."
"This was a great location for me to visit Galashiels. Its a lovely old manse building with nice clean big rooms and comfy beds. The owners of the guest house were on site, very friendly and welcoming. I had a sound night's sleep and woke to a lovely cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. I couldn't fault my stay.
There is plenty parking but lots of free street parking nearby anyway so no issues there. I wouldn't hesitate to book again."
"The restaurant next door was lovely for a quick bite. The room and hotel were great and a good location for our needs. The staff was excellent. The only thing we found that could have been better was our shower head was leaking sideways and was impossible to keep it from creating a tiny river on the bathroom floor. If you’re booking this location for a out of Edinburgh stay before a flight - make sure you factor in traffic / travel time that is sufficient to get through a morning rush hour &...
"Convenient location bang in the middle of Selkirk. Hotel has a nice bar and restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast very good but, at £35 a head, very expensive."
"One thing to say it was like a back packers retreat !!! Everything was falling apart ! Back packers everywhere. No fridge or air con or fans in the room. No hot water for 3 days in my bathroom !!! No daily services so 1 towel was supposed to last me for 9 days !!!
Photos in advert is not what it is when you get there either !!! Nice soft sofas are not at all what you get there !!! No tv in rooms either !! Place is falling apart !!! Do not book. They told me that Expedia has with...
