"Upon arrival, the place looked run down. Pool was not functioning and building look older. When checking in, we learned that a new owner had just taken over 2-3 days earlier. The staff could not figure out the software and we were assigned about 3 different rooms before we got one that was truly available for use (one already was occupied by someone else, one was under renovation and the 3rd I can't remember). Granted, I don't think the staff had received proper check in procedures so I don't believe it was their fault. They were very friendly, apologetic and kind doing the best job they could. Finally, we were assigned the honeymoon suite (upgrade from what we reserved). The room was clean. The jets in the tub didn't work. But overall the room was nice. Continental breakfast had very limited choices and not very appetizing. We were told that major renovations were scheduled to be started later this year."
This home is located in beautiful Parke County, a rustic and charming setting.

"Home was great. WiFi was very spotty. We had a power outage and host was very responsive and apologetic although not their fault. We enjoyed our stay!"

"Our stay at the Rustic Retreat was wonderful. Check in was super easy and the home was extremely clean and comfortable. The host is extremely quick to answer any questions. The house is equipped with everything you need. Several games are available in the yard as well as a firepit and hammock. The porch is extremely comfortable and provided great shade during the hot temperatures during our stay. A hot tub is on the back porch. The area is extremely peaceful. A State Park pass is available for use and came in very handy for our daily hikes at Turkey Run which is a very short drive right down the street. The Rustic Retreat will be our base for any future stays in the Turkey Run and surrounding area."

"A wonderful, unique, and dog friendly cabin! Beautiful and secluded forest setting. Lots of places to sit and relax. Place was very clean and well maintained. Really appreciated that the kitchenware was usable. Very close proximity to Turkey Run, Shades, Sugar Creek and there was a grocery store 20 minutes away. We would absolutely stay here again! Since the property is on well water, there definitely was a funky odor from the faucets sometimes. But it wasn’t unbearable and we appreciated the hosts provided a Brita filter to ensure clean drinking water."

"Quaint doesn't begin to describe it. It's AMAZONG!! And huge!! My husband and son had an amazing experience. Charles is a great host and answers all questions quickly. Even left a little welcome bag that was a nice touch! So cool that is was an old school convertes into this BNB! Would recommend and visit again!!"
