Maclin Lodge Motel

"A toaster and microwave would have been nice to have in the room"
Thirroul Beach Motel
8/10 Good
"It was like stepping back in time when we walked into our room at this motel - old fashioned and very much 1960's style. (The bathroom floor tiling took me back to the days when I used to live with my grandmother who had a bathroom floor of the same design!) However, these remarks are not meant as unkind criticisms. This motel was well located near our party venue and there was parking right outside our room. The spacious room was spotless and had all the toiletry and tea/coffee making supplies which we have come to expect in Australian motels. The bed was really comfortable and the sheets were crisp and clean. All in all this motel suited us admirably and I would recommend it. Travelers should note that there is no reception as it is a 'self check-in' motel, which means you need to get room number and key code before you can get into the room. However, this is a straight forward process. My only negative criticism is that it was a bit overpriced, especially as we stayed in the depth of winter."
Five Islands Hotel

"Good staff food good only problem was the room smelt of smoke"
Novotel Wollongong Northbeach
8/10 Good
"Property was nice and convenient to the beach. Beds were wayyyy too soft. Found a candy wrapped amongst the “fresh” bed linen. Found other candy wrappers behind the beside table."
Lakeside Inn Illawarra
10/10 Excellent
"Cozy little room to stay and close to the lake with an incredible view. Convenient location for access to surrounding Illawarra areas. Heater was awesome and kept the room nice and warm when it was very cold outside. Buffet breakfast was also very good :)"
ibis Budget Campbelltown
8/10 Good
"The room was clean, and comfortable. Reception staff were very helpful. Reception staff were very helpful. I complementary light breakfast was a bonus. Very handy location as a base to explore Sydney and surrounds. Great selection of fast food restaurants nearby and larger shopping centres with a five minute drive. One hour train drive to Sydney which was very handy."

"Great location and perfect for a weekend away"
Harp Hotel
8/10 Good
"We were only staying one night as we went to the Wollongong Entertainment Centre for a show. The Harp is literally a 3 minute walk to the venue. There were also lots of great food places open afterwards. The accommodation has recently been refurbished and whilst it’s not flash by any means, for accommodation attached to a pub it was much better than we expected. I was prepared for it to have the old stale beer, musty carpet smells but it actually smelt great! Whatever they use is awesome - fresh and clean! Check in was painless, apart from the $200 deposit I know won’t be back in my bank account for probably two weeks, and 4 women having to walk through the main bar area with our luggage (and pillows 😩😂) to check in was a bit daunting. The room we stayed in had a queen bed and two singles and it was really well presented with little boards for each of us with toiletries, and there were plenty of options for coffee and tea as well as individually wrapped biscuits, a decent sized fridge and tv with most local and cable channels. The room was very clean as was the bathroom and there was a big shower, with plenty of clean fresh towels. The tap on the basin was barely hanging in there - extremely loose and wobbly but it was functioning 😂. The outside area was really clean and well organised for a pub! All the kegs and pallets were neatly stacked, away from the seating - of which there was plenty. Free parking in a private carpark. We’d definitely stay there again!"
