Beautiful place to stay. Looks like everything was newly renovated. Common kitchen with cereals, bars, coffee provided as well as coffee maker in the room. Cutlery and pans are also provided if you wanted to make your own breakfast (nice gas viking stove). 2 common living areas with a fire place, common dining as well. 5 minutes from mount snow, can't beat it! Will stay here again in the future.
My son & I ended up staying here due to an unexpected snowstorm to extend our stay in Vermont for snowboarding competitions. Check-in was easy & done by code. Who we assume was the property manager informed us that everything (check-in, answering any questions, etc) was all done by phone. We got the impression he didn’t wish to be bothered (I have years of experience in hospitality so can’t say I blame him). For those guests who prefer a hands-off approach, this place is a good fit.
My son absentmindedly left his electric toothbrush behind (one of those pricey gifts from grandma - oy), & we contacted management the same day of departure but were told everything was already disposed of.
The room was clean, bed was comfy, & bathroom had been renovated. The hallway/staircase is super creaky so we could hear everything & felt badly for other guests when we had to depart so early the following morning. Having access to a kitchen & dining room is an excellent amenity. Brook Bound Inn is a solid, convenient, hands-off, & comfortable place to stay.
The hotel facility is wonderful. The service was really strange and almost nonexistent.
I booked online about 3 PM that afternoon through Expedia. When we got to the facility, all doors were locked with no posted phone number of who to call and I had no idea how to get to our room. I finally knocked on a window and a young lady who was doing some work in the kitchen area let us in. She said I would’ve received a text message with check in instructions. I didn’t know to look….I’m used to a person being present. Sure enough, there was a text with limited instructions buried among other text messages I received that afternoon. That was about 6 PM. About 6:30 PM. I received emails with instructions, but I was already in.
If you want breakfast, you better bring your own. The breakfast provided was really limited and very strange. There were small single servings of dry cereal, but no milk. There was a nice toaster, but no bread to toast. There were some bananas. So our breakfast was individual oatmeal that you add water and cook in the microwave and we ate a banana.
There was a Keurig style coffee maker, but no regular coffee. There were four or five flavored coffees and about 25 little tubs of decaf coffee.
Bottom line…there appeared to be a total lack of understanding of how to be hosts at a country inn.
