"This is actually a great spot, but it is 38km from the nearest restaurant or grocery store. We missed that detail and had to improvise dinner. They have a cafe with an honor bar, but only pastries. If they sold a couple staples that would have been excellent. Other than that, it’s great."

"We really enjoyed our time in our static bus. The views of the mountain were superb, and it was nice to be able to walk some way up the side of it, to about 150 m. I could have gone higher if I was suitably equipped. The bus itself was well equipped, though the kettle took a long time to boil. We planned our hot drinks well in advance. "We really found The Alda to be in an excellent location. Right in the middle of multiple shopping and dining opportunities. The breakfast was good. The room we chose was spacious and the bed was comfortable. My only suggestion for improvement would be to figure out how to have more light in the room. Even with every available light device on, we struggled to find things in our suitcases. So, we enjoyed our night at the Alda, got a good nights sleep, had a decent breakfast, and were helped by the very accommodating and friendly staff. I have no reservations in recommending The Alda."

"This guesthouse was perfectly located for walking in the downtown area. It was a clean room with two comfortable beds. There was also a shared kitchen available with a small refrigerator. Other than that it was lacking in amenities. The property description did not clearly advise that guests must share a bathroom with those in three other rooms in the same hallway. Also the water was sulfur water and smelled like eggs. There was no blow dryer or any body wash or shampoo."

"The hotel is nicely maintained and in a beautiful town. The issue is if you do not have your own transportation, it becomes expensive using taxi to go to Reykjavík for access to tours and sightseeing. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly. Breakfast is a light offering but nice"
