The American Inn of Bethesda has a unique location to the area I was visiting. The bakery around the corner OohLaLaBakery was delightful stop Sunday morning on my way to my destination. Also a very large super market is there too. Enjoyed, the laundry machines on fifth floor and ice machine on fourth floor. Convenient check with beverage and snack purchase. Television options too.

I had great stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The location was perfect with many restaurants within walking distance. There was grocery store and CVS within walking distance. Metro was only 10 minute walk away. The price was about $80 cheaper than other hotels in the area.

This is a family-run business in the heart of Bethesda. Not fancy but run by a nice bunch of folks. Easy access to the NIH by shuttle. Close to two grocery stores and lots of restaurants.

The property is very very old. The place was dirty. Rooms are extra small which is fine. They lied on the amenities. Stated there was wired internet but there was not. I called to confirm and staff told me there was, that was lie. There’s only WiFi. I need wired internet for work and was set back tremendously because of that. Parking was also as nightmare. Their parking area only house maybe 10-15 vehicles with about 10 spots that can not be accessed by medium sized pickup due to how low the roof of the place was. The only good is the proximity to things. Restaurants, NIH, Bus stations, and military hospital. I would never stay here again.

I would not recommend no matter how cheap and close to NIH. Our room has bugs and needs some updates. Hallways smell very musty. Keep everything zipped or the bugs will travel with you. Not a bed bug, more of a strange insect. Elevators don't work and we were put on 4th floor. Luckily a room on 2nd was available. Front desk staff were kind and smooth check in

Clean room. Very helpful and responsive staff. A challenge to park in the narrow on-site lot and hard to find street parking (but unsual for this area of Bethesda). $20/day for on-site parking was a change from the free parking here during my last stays, but again, not unusual for this area. Short walk to metro, or WRMMC appts, Harris Teeter and bakery/coffee shops. Guapos next to the hotel serves delicious Mexican dinning or carry out options. I will happily continue to patronize American Inn in the future.

The room was small but being by myself I didn’t mind that so much. Lots of street noise and loud AC in the room. Not the cleanest bathroom I’ve encountered in a hotel. Rust stains (I think, almost looked like blood spattering) in the bath tub. Overall ok, probably would choose a different hotel in the future

Good value if you just need a place to stay and you are not spending much time in your room. Small room. Hotel could use some updating We left each day at 9 am and didn’t get back to our room until 7:30. Amenities limited but coffee maker in room and refrigerator. Great location for shops and restaurants and train if you don’t mind walking. Staff very nice and accommodating. If you want to spend at least $100.00 or more least per night, GO FOR IT. Also, parked for free!
