The Ulsan Hyanggyo is a public local educational institution from the Joseon Era (1392-1897). The structure includes Daeseongjeon (Confucian shrine), Myeongryundang (lecture hall), Dongmu and Seomu (east and west Shrines), Dongjae and Seojae (east and west dormitories), Cheongwonru (two story front gate) and an inner gate. Furthermore, an adjacent walled compound has a caretake'rs house and additional dormitory rooms.

The Confucian shrine hall, Daeseongjeon, is dedicated to Confucius (552-479 B.C.). Daeseongjeon has a gabled roof with a wing-like bracket style.
