I saw some reviews about bugs in the rooms but mine only had a few ants, nothing major. Staff are very friendly.
Teba House is ideally located close to restaurants, shops, the Monkey Forest. Maybe 30min walk to the Royal palace and museums.
It is rather comfortable, with all the basic amenities and equipment.
The staff is friendly and very helpful overall.
I had breakfast included, it was basic egg on toast and coffee/tea, just enough to get you through your morning exploration!
Thank you Wayan and team!
Wayan was very helpful and the gardens in the property were delightful. More communication, extra towels in the rooms, and suggestions such as stop off at a market for bottled water would be helpful, especially for first time to Bali travelers. Great location!

Would highly recommend you stay at Teba House if you are looking for a more local experience. Yan Nick was so helpful and I would recommend you take the Batur hiking trip he recommends along with renting scooters from him. He cleaned the rooms and the location felt safe and secure. Was a great location and easily walkable area. Would stay again!
The property was near everything. I came at the home anytime and I was always safe. The family was very involved with everybody there to make sure that they’re in everything they need they’re able to get. It was a pleasure sharing time with the family.
Property has beautiful gardens and outdoor areas, small but so nice.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room very basic but clean, and bed comfortable, with ac.
Walk to Monkey Forest and shopping, restaurants etc.
Good for the price.
Another wonderful stay at Teba House! I will certainly be back next time I am in Ubud. Clean, comfortable bed, wonderful family, beautiful garden, peaceful, and super central. Thanks again!
Teba house has been a beyond perfect place to rest my head while in Ubud. The bed is comfy, sheets are good quality and clean, the location is perfectly central (3-7 min walk to any restaurant or yoga studio), and overall is a true gem. My room had great natural light I found myself extending my stay from 6 days to 12, as I couldn’t bring myself to leave. The host was very accommodating, from bringing fresh towels and cleaning the room, and even helped with antiseptic when I got into a motorbike accident. The garden is beautiful, with birds and hanging flowers throughout. It’s a little sliver of peace in the heart of all the bustle. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Bathtub stained with something that looks like mold. Bright blue white bulbs make it feel like a hospital. Needs warm lighting for night time. AC barely cools unless you leave it on all the time which is not good for the environment or the electricity bill
Rooms are not cleaned on daily basis. The tub and toilet are dirty. Bed sheets are not changed unless you ask for them. Several days the hot water is not there.
Filthy bathroom, shower wouldn’t stay on wall and I ended up burning myself, toilet had actual urine on the bowl, the main toilet was like nothing I have ever seen, disgusting fridge, 4 hangers in wardrobe, brown suspect water under fridge, mould all over ceiling in bathroom, end of sink fell off, no kettle, no drinking water, no cups, tea, coffee or milk. No towels, requested some and they looked like dish rags. Our door wouldn’t even shut let alone lock!
Owner really hostile when we pointed out issues after our bed BROKE. We physically just layed down on it!
He literally chucked us out of his establishment in our pyjamas at 9:10pm with nowhere to go.
He accused us of doing this to his “beautiful room”.
We had booked a deluxe!!
He also tried to say we hadn’t booked breakfast when we had and we had to spend some time after 30 hours of travel digging out receipts. If you look at other reviews this isn’t the first time he has done this.
Him chucking us out was made worse by the fact my friend had just taken his epilepsy medication that make him heavily disoriented so basically we ended up stood outside in PJ’s in the dark with all our suitcases with one not there person and me a 55 year old lady in a very busy city we didn’t know with no where to go!!!
DO NOT book here!!
I am upset I can’t submit photos and video.
I had the worst experience staying at Teba House in Ubud, Bali. First of all, there was no air conditioning, and the room was unbearably hot and stuffy. It was impossible to get a good night’s sleep. To make matters worse, I actually saw a rat in the room! The place felt completely unhygienic. Everything in the room was old, broken, and falling apart—from the furniture to the bathroom fixtures. This hotel clearly hasn’t been maintained in years. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
I really wanted to like this place and I even overlooked a few things. But in the end, the property needs a lot of work and TLC. Everyone just opens up hotels in Bali and does not understand that it will need maintenance and upkeep.
Here are a few things that stood out:
-There were ants all over the room. At some point, they were all over my bed.
-The bathtub clogged up and wouldn’t drain
-The hot water went away for two days - had to shower in the cold
-There were animal sounds throughout the night. A rooster literally from 5am until noon - but it is Bali so not really a complaint, just a warning.
-The Wi-Fi here should not even be considered Wi-Fi. It barely ever works at all.
-You can hear the entire conversion of the neighbors easily.
-All the curtains in the room had large dirty stains on them, not sure why haha.
-The towels smell so terrible, I had to buy my own.
-At some point, I just stopped asking the hotel staff things because there were so many problems. I took photos and videos of everything.
There were ants all over the room and in the bed. the AC wasn’t working. I immediately checked out. I saw 2 other ppl checking out also because of the ants.
