"What an incredible stay for us. First time to a ryokan (i.e., traditional Japanese inn w/ onsen). What an experience! Hotel is somewhat confusing to navigate, but that is part of the adventure. The public onsen was incredible (note: they swap the male and female sides, so pay ATTENTION!). The room we stayed in was "traditional" in that we had five futons atop tatami. Haven't selpt that well in a long time! The in-room onsen was a bit old school (basically a deep tub), but still oh so magical....

Staff spoke a variety of languages which was very helpful. This location is also good for visiting Amagiso outdoor waterfall onsen."
