This hotel has a distinctive French ambience, in a constructive manner, not kitsch or in bad taste. it is part of the Q-Square Shopping Mall that offers high end to mid-range and night market type merchandise. My wife spent 1 full day shopping there. In the basement B4, it has the biggest food court of local and Japanese street food plus mid-range restaurants. It is across the road to Taipei Main Station with connections to the fast trains and the Metro subway line. We did a number of day tours that required us to catch the MRT for 2 stops on the Blue Line to meet the tour. All MRT stations have a number for ease of identification.
The room was spacious with good space utilization. We hated the high-tech lighting system. Switching off the lights to go to bed was a challenge on the first night. Once we worked out the dimmer system it was okay. Bring back the simple on off switch!!!
The breakfast room was a sight to behold. Designed like a Parisian Bistro, it could be a set for the Phantom of the Opera Play. It offers a wide range of food to suit western travellers. But do try the huge verities of Chinese specialties from different provinces of China. I loved the Teochew congee which is a plain rice porridge with 16 assorted pickled vegetables plus salted eggs for you to concoct your personal taste sensation. That was our highlight for the 6 days that we stayed at the hotel.
The hotel is 10 minutes walking distance to Nanjing Road West to a vibrant Night Market
