Dramatic Oceanfront Cottage with Stunning Views of Acadia National Park!

2 Bedroom, 2 Full Baths sleeps 4 - maximum 6 (new queen sofa bed or hi-rise inflatable air mattress for overflow guests)

Shift into idle in this lovely cottage by the sea. Sleep to the rhythmic sounds of gentle waves lapping on your shore. Prolific wildlife abounds; eagles, loon, osprey and an occasional seal. Sunrises here are some of the most magnificent on planet earth! Her reflection off the sea might even dance across your ceilings if you are an early enough riser and have a desire to connect with the beauty that surrounds you here.

The ocean and all her treasures are right at your footstep with a stunning porch that hangs over the sea and access to some of the finest lobster Maine has to offer just a few doors down at a quint New England, locally-owned, lobster shack. Exceptional panoramic, 180-degree views of Acadia National Park. Conveniently located only 15 minutes from two quintessential New England villages; Blue Hill and Ellsworth for restaurants and shopping. Endless outdoor adventures are to be found in this part of Downeast Maine. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a 50 minute drive. Nearby hiking, boating, horse-back riding, bike riding, mountain climbing, painting, whale watching, fishing, sailing, kayak rentals and more are all available.

FYI if you are coming with small children; this property is literally right on the ocean. Porch overhangs the water and stairs down to the sea, neither are child proofed. Please take care. That said, the owner's children enjoyed the home since they were wee. Epic Atlantic, typically calm waters for little ones. Also note no play yard. 

This is a non-smoking, no pet vacation rental property.

It was very convenient and comfortable. Our only concern was the size of the double bed in the main bedroom and suggest replacing it with a queen sized bed and moving out the dresser in that room. Overall, we had an excellent stay.

Less than an hour from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Our first trip to Maine and this was the most quiet & peaceful rental that I have ever stayed in. The house was wonderful.. clean and had everything that we needed. We walked down to Perry's Lobster shack the evening we checked in and the food was wonderful. Check in was smooth. The most beautiful sunrise over the water that I have ever seen. We would love to go back in the summer. Highly recommend!

Views from the back windows were amazing. Kitchen was very well equipped . Restaurants were more accessible in Blue Hill which is about a 20 minute drive. Stores and restaurants in Ellsworth were good but frequently there was a lot of traffic and roadwork to get to Ellsworth.

We enjoyed the waterfront view, wildlife and comings and goings of the lobster boats. It was so convenient to walk down the street to Perry's for dining on the wharf or take-out lobster and chowder. The location was perfect to explore the sites in all directions. The house is setup nicely for two couples to share.

Perfection! At high tide it feels like you are on a ship - water views out of every window. Fabulous location and incredibly clean. Well stocked kitchen. Nice to have quality pans to cook with! Really nice to be able to swim right at the foot of the steps, and to be just a short walk from a more official beach. Quiet and peaceful at night.Hope to return again next year!

Idle hour is the most amazing VRBO we have ever stayed in. The view is panoramic from the moment you walk in the door. Everything is spotless attention to detail many little amenities that make things so much simpler. Magnificent View and a Spectacular Cottage.

As soon as we entered this Lovely Cottage we fell in love with it. Everything imaginable was there for our stay. From the humming of a lobster boat as it left in the wee hours of the morning to the Magnificent View/Sunrises from our bedroom. We also enjoyed the Antics from a Blue Heron along with watching two seals both right in front of our Cottage. We can not give enough accolades for this Cottage. A magical spot!

This is a magical spot with an unbelievable location! Literally right on the water with sunrise viewing from your bed! Enjoyed the available firepit to sit and chill in the evenings. Also, there is a Lobster Shack two doors down if you don't want to travel for dinner!

AMAZING views and great location!

This cottage was PERFECT! We loved that they had everything we needed for our stay, even a cooler to take for picnics in Acadia. The views were so pretty and so great to wake up to. The property manager was easy to correspond with and prompt at responding. We would highly recommend this rental.

Amazing view

We enjoyed our stay here. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of an ant problem. There was ant bait set out and spray to use so that was helpful. Otherwise this place is perfect for the gorgeous views and peaceful surrounding. I would stay here again.

What a beautiful spot! Although it was a ways away from the area attractions, we loved the peace and serenity. The kids enjoyed exploring the shoreline and playing the board games there while mom and dad relaxed and enjoyed the view. The house had everything we needed.

A mixed bag…

The view from the house cannot be surpassed. A really lovely location. Quiet, peaceful and off the beaten path. Close to Ellsworth if you need a good-sized grocery store or can’t live without a chain restaurant. Acadia and Bar Harbor are just as easily accessible. The space itself is reasonably sized and can easily accommodate four adult guests for sleeping. The downside is that, like a lot of good waterfront properties in Downeast, it’s cheaply furnished, slightly rundown and in need of some updating. It’s also run by a property manager so there isn’t really personalized attention given to things. Linens, towels and dishware were all musty and smelled like they were put away wet. Very minimal creature comforts. The outdoor space was cramped (no room to accommodate the maximum number of guests allowed) and the setup didn’t take advantage of the view. Very confusing and contradictory heating and cooling instructions as well. I would probably stay again, especially at this time of year when the main road was quiet and prices might have been lower. Pictures were technically accurate but somewhat misleading once you got the layout in person.
