سانت ليوناردس أون سي
سانت ليوناردس أون سي
Built in 1864 by J. L. Pearson for a cost of £11,000, it is built of brick with stone dressings. There is an eastern apse with no chancel arch and small transepts. Originally a tower was planned at the south west corner, apart from the base, it was never built, but there is a leaded flèche on top of the church. This is still quite prominent as the church is built on a slope with the vestries beneath the chancel.
Stone statue depicting King Harold II and his first wife Edith Swan-Neck (1025-1086?). Harold is depicted lying on his back dying and the figure of Edith is hunched over him, holding up his head towards her face. Artist: Charles Augustus William Wilke.
