Super location, quiet place, yet in the middle of the bustling center of Alkmaar

"We loved our cute and quiet back yard cottage, Deborah's creatively done hiding place, all 200 square feet of it plus a lovely loft space above to sleep in! The kitchen had everything we needed for home cooking or just making coffee, the bathroom was spotless and easy to use, the sitting area was nice for reading and/or taking a nap, :) the bed was comfortable and the outside garden was really nice. The location was perfect for us: walking distance from the train/bus station, the center of Alkmaar, organic bakeries, nice restaurants and swimming pools! :)Deborah is a very generous and warm host, checking in every once in a while with her friendly manner but not imposing in any way. She started us off with a lovely small bottle of Prosecco, one of my favorites! She has lovely taste in color and seems to have a fun creative streak, which we really appreciated. We'd stay at her place again any time...Thank you, Deborah! Tot straks! :) Caroline"

"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"

"Schönes Ferienhaus in ruhiger Umgebung. Guter Startpunkt um die Umgebung zu Fuß oder mit Fahrrad zu erkunden. Wir haben einen sehr schönen Urlaub dort erlebt."

"I had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were super helpful and welcoming, and the hotel was clean and well maintained with all the necessary amenities. I liked the view of the canal from my room despite its facing a parking lot. the coffee machine was a nice touch that I especially enjoyed. The same machine can also make hot water. The room space is true to its description - small. If you have a lot of luggage’s or bigger luggage, the small room maybe challenging. Overall, though, I had a very pleasant stay and would be happy to return."
