The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet.The room was an OK size. The bathroom was a bit small but with the sink being in a separate area there was good space. The hotel is right on the doorstep of the Abbey District and other attractions are a short walk away. There is also good public transport connections nearby if you're looking to travel out further. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Charming hotel, right in the center of St Gallen

A wonderful little place, in the midst of the historic part of town. Charming, extremely helpful staff, very good breakfast. I would re-book here in a second, we had a fantastic stay.

Practically right next to St Gallen Library

We had a great experience. We initially visited St Gallen just to go to The Library, and didn’t realize how close this hotel was to the library. If we ever make it back here, I will definitely book this hotel. We loved this area.

This small hotel was amazing. The room was spotless, and the bed was great. They had a portable ac unit which we needed. Breakfast was nice. The staff was wonderful.

Tucked into a quiet stone street just around the corner from the Abbey and the old town, we lucked out and ended up here, at the best place to stay when exploring St. Gallen for the first time. We’ll be back!

I have taught at the University of St. Gallen twice a year for years, but never stayed at the Vadian. Don't be fooled by the two stars, it's a first-rate hotel, great location (a few blocks from the railway station and steps to the wildly Baroque abbey church). After more than 200 trips to Europe, I known European hotels, and the Vadian is great value.

Nice Spot!

The hotel is very clean, well kept. The corridors are long and many doors and odd stairs tricky with luggage. Otherwise excellent location. In the old town. Handy little kitchen next to our room. Would definitely go back to this hotel.

Narrow steps and old world charm

We arrived late. The directions for the remote entry were confusing. Florian provided great customer service to get us to our room. Breakfast was delightful. The air conditioning unit was welcome. Close to the old town.

The property was newly refurbished. Rooms were very small. Check in was awkward, a few hours during the day the office is closed. We checked in on a Sunday and the office had closed at noon??? Had to figure out how to call the office, finally got thru and some one was there just shut the door. Ask all your questions because alot of information is not given unless you ask.

Very low quality - ok for young backpakers

Difficult to get to this hotel from the train station, the streets are a maize and frequently unmarked. The hotel is not open until 4:00PM, there are a few lockers to store a suitcase. A carryon size suitcase is the largest that fits and you must have a two-franc coin to access the locker or you'll be toting your luggage all day. Their is an elevator but you need to take the bags up one flight of stairs to get to it! The room is very cramped! No furniture, just a table, so you must "live" out of your suitcase. The bathroom is so small the door huts the toilet so you must close the door to use the bathroom. The sink in the room, not in the bathroom. For a similar price we had far superior hotels throughout Switzerland, many even included breakfast. This place is just a little better than a youth hostel bust much more expensive. The staff are friendly but that does not make up for the many inconveniences.
