"Five Stars This place was definitely a true getaway retreat away from everything. Four-wheel drive is definitely recommended, and we knew that going in, so we brought our Jeep with us. It made the trip up to the cabin enjoyable and added to the whole mountain experience.If you are looking for a place to truly get away from everything, sit back, enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, and relax in the hot tub, then this is the place for you.The cabin gives you that secluded, peaceful feeling while still having all the comforts and necessities of life that we have gotten used to.It is also very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it just a short drive to take in some beautiful mountain views and watch an amazing sunset — or sunrise, if you are an early riser.We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend A World Apart to anyone looking for peace, privacy, and a real mountain getaway."

"This was the cleanest place we have ever stayed. It was spotless and beautiful! The sunset views are amazing. Back porch sitting and watching the hummingbirds fly around, the chipmunks play and an occasional bear walk by was my favorite part of the day. This is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or just a place to sit back and relax and get lost in the beauty of nature. There are lots of things to do nearby. The hosts were amazing! They provided everything we needed and shared so many helpful tips about the area! Truly enjoyed this place and the kindness of Capt. Tony and Nancy! Oh, and their precious pups, Marlin and Sophie, were great bear alarms!"

"The cottage was wonderful. It reminds me of my grandparent's cottage in Michigan. Sleeping with the gentle sound of the creek below us was great. We saw elk, beaver, a bear along with the usual squirrels and chipmunks, and Sam the Big Foot but he's a good guy. The driveway is a challenge, but I got used to it. The porch was a wonderful place to read, nap or just sit. We had some problems with the water pump but our hosts were quick to get it fixed. Improvements? I would like some brighter lights in the bedroom and a place to hang clothes."

"We had the best time at the cabin. The place is beautiful, even better than the pictures, and the view is spectacular. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds were comfortable and everything worked very well at the house. The surrounding area is very quiet and it’s really close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Socco Falls and Oconaluftee area of the Smoky’s. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a full day of hiking. We loved our stay and can’t wait to visit this area again!"

"Great property. Had everything we needed and was exactly as described. Convenient location to multiple local attractions. Would definitely rent again if we were back in the area. PLEASE TAKE HEED OF THE OWNERS ADVICE FOR AWD VEHICLES. We rent in the mountains enough to know not to ignore that advice, but the nature of our trip required two vehicles the first night, one of which wasn't AWD. It made it to the property, but it's not something I would want to do twice. Thanks to the owners thoughtful alternative directions for leaving the property it got down no problem. My two cents is consider an AWD vehicle a requirement for this property, both for your own sake and for maintaining the condition of the access road. This is in NO WAY a criticism of the property as this is specifically called out in the property description.Thank you again for such a clean, convenient rental with easy check-in and prompt communication."
