"We had to uber everywhere. If you’re going to go on a tour or walk around it would be better to stay near Copacabana beach. Check in is at 3:00, so hopefully your flight doesn’t come in early unless you want to pay more for early check in. The room itself was good. The airconditioning was great. Front desk could be friendlier. "

" This hotel had many wonderful reviews, which is why my boyfriend and I decided to stay here. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we expected. When we first entered the room, we immediately noticed several issues. The air conditioner was leaking water onto the floor, the restroom had no fan, and there were no small towels for bathing. The room itself was also very small. Another inconvenience was that there was no iron in the room—the iron and ironing board are located on the 10th floor, and you must request a special key from the front desk because your room key does not allow access. The shower also did not appear very clean. Housekeeping was another problem. We requested that our room be cleaned, but it was not cleaned for several days after the request. We also asked for additional towels and were told they would be placed in our room, but we never received them. During our trip I unfortunately missed my flight, so my boyfriend extended our stay. However, the extension was never updated in the hotel’s system. Our room key suddenly stopped working, and when I went to the front desk they said they had no record of us staying there. Even after showing receipts and booking confirmations, they couldn’t locate it. After about 45 minutes they finally fixed the issue and gave me a new key. Later that night, while I was alone in the room, I heard repeated knocking around 11 PM. When I asked who it was, there was no response. The knocking continued until after midnight."

" Overall: 6/10 This property feels more like a hostel with private rooms rather than a traditional hotel. It’s set in a beautiful historic Portuguese-style building, which gives it a lot of charm. The atmosphere is very lively and geared toward a younger crowd, with frequent parties and loud music, so it may not suit those looking for a quiet stay. The staff were helpful and pleasant throughout. Most rooms are set up as shared spaces with either four beds or two beds. In private rooms, two twin beds are pushed together to create a larger bed. In my case, the bed itself needed maintenance—the legs were unstable, and I had to adjust or fix it each time I got into bed. The rooms overall are in need of upkeep. While the colorful design adds character, there was mould in the bathroom and visible stains. Housekeeping is not automatic, so you need to request cleaning each morning. My room included a fridge, which was convenient, though most rooms do not. There is also no TV, which aligns with the social, hostel-style concept. On the positive side, the Wi-Fi was excellent, and the food on the menu was very good. One thing to note: be careful walking on the stone pathways around the property, as they can be uneven. Overall, for the price, it’s a decent option if you don’t plan to spend much time in the room and are comfortable with a more social, hostel-like environment."

"The Saionara is close to two metro stations and the main bus station. There are eateries and a market very close by. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The shower is excellent. Breakfast is good with all the usual choices. For some reason I was not able to use the internet. I could log on but there was no service which made things a little difficult. "

"The owner is really nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable. I stayed in the private room and it is nice and spacious for 1 or 2 people. Train, stores and pharmacy are all nearby. Great place to stay during carnaval as it is away from all the party, so you can rest well for the next day. "
