"Room was clean. Sophie at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful and welcomed us to Amsterdam. She has a true passion for customers. Hotel was clean and what you would expect from a best western but may have lacked certain modern amenities that you would come to expect from a European hotel."

"The room refrigerator did not work. The in room coffee maker leaked water and did not work. The room was inconvenient in its location in a separate building. The halls were tight. We were not informed of the second entrance for the best place to park. The elevators were very small. We had large bags and had trouble getting through the narrow hall to the second building."

"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"
