Clean room, friendly staff, close to various public transport. Family friendly (but also a few too many children running around screaming on occasion!). Pool/sauna/steam room was a nice place to go (but again, see screaming children). Good breakfast & the restaurant was reasonably priced.

We are seasoned travellers, and now we are seasoned “with young kids” travellers! This hotel is away from the main tourist centre but is absolutely excellent. The staff are amazing. A special mention for Antonio who could not have done more for our kids (2 and 7) Great rooms. Expedia listing doesn't do it justice. Book with confidence. The restaurant is great also. 5 stars.

Nice hotel. Perfect for families with kids. It was a nice break for my kids to be able to play in the pool and they had fun with the free arcade games. The gym was clean and big. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because the mattress in our room should be replaced. It was sunken in. There were also some ants in the room. Besides those two issues, everything was great.

Didnt use all the options but they were offered. All the staff were impressively multilingual, and generally friendly and upbeat. It felt like a team and I enjoyed the positive energy. My room was very clean and quiet, the bed super comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was delicious with range from full english, to fine pastries and the italian cold cuts and fruit, green salads, and yoghurt/granola options. Just a great stay.

Travelled from North America with family. This place by far exceeded our expectations. Location - number one. Walking distance from Vatican, fine dinning, metro station and grocery store. All you need. Staff - amazing and attentive. Room - perfect size, not on a bigger end but just enough with a great size shower and bathroom. Impeccably clean. Breakfast - buffet style, 20 euros a day, very reasonable for quality of food and options for all. Overall - great value for money and strongly recommend.

Absolute gem of a place with stand out friendly staff, amazing location. Our room even had a view of St Peter’s basilica which was beautiful at sunset. When we return to Rome we’d happily choose Mama Shelter again. The pizzeria was excellent (service not superb in there but pizza was great). There are some great food options around the area, we ate a typical Roman breakfast opposite Cipro Metro station. There’s a Carrefour (make sure you get a discount card as this can save you a fair bit), and Cococ was excellent a few strides out of the door, for a breakfast also (they do evening meals there). We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel, it was quite pricey at €22 each - you can get a lot more in this Prati neighbourhood for much less
