We had a good stay at Riviera, good location, away from the busy roads, very good for walking, particularly in the nearby beach. The room was fine, good outside veranda, bed and towels good. The restaurant was excellent, very good, probably the best restaurant in the area. Food is made to order, fresh and of a very high standard, wide and varied choice. Go for an early walk on the beach and watch the local fisherman, interesting.

Bathroom was very dirty very little hot water toilets are very dirty. The staff is not helpful. no kettle in the room, no coffee in the room I would not advise anyone to stay there not good at all

From the greetings on arrival to the moment of departure, the staff and owners were only too happy to assist us. If you are looking for a place to relax and hang by the pool or walk down laneways for 10 minutes to a great swimming beach, this place is just great to wind down from the usual tourist trails. The grounds surrounding our accommodation had lots of wildlife, squirrels, geese and even some resident eagles in the coconut palms.. For western travellers, it's handy to know that they have reasonable bar with cold beer and glasses too..A tuk tuk into town is only 5 minutes when you want to see some of the sights such as the Dutch fort.

Everything was perfect. The bathrooms were clean, odorless, and good sized with a strong shower. The AC worked really well without being noisy. Meal options were great, high quality dishes made to order - so take care to order at least one hour before you want to eat. The property was so spacious with lots of shady spots to sit by the water. All the staff were incredibly helpful, like they ordered tuktuks for my aunt and I, and the tuktuks came very promptly. We were picked up to go to the railway station at 5:30 AM sharp. From an American perspective the prices of room and meals were all a fantastic deal. I also appreciated the universal charger in the room, which worked for my US plugs. The hotel is nice in that it doesn't feel overly touristy or ostentatious. It's a bit low key but immaculately clean and well-managed. Was interesting to also see the manager's model train set for a nominal fee, check it out on a rainy day esp. if you have kids. I would add, lastly, that the restaurant went to great lengths to accommodate my family member's request for low salt versions of all meals.

This place is like a mini centre parcs for space. Equivalent size of 6x football pitches. Pool is large, clean and excellent. Good location.

Amazing place. Such professional staff, huge property with attractive pool and long lagoon front full of hammocks and tables to watch the fishermen at sunset. Very good food. Wide range of rooms in different style bungalows spread out through the property (very quiet). Very clean (inside the rooms, the lobby/dining area and even the sand/ground throughout the property. 15 minute walk through alleys of friendly neighborhood to long, deserted beach. Environmentally friendly management of the resort. I can't say enough positive things about the friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism of the staff... feels like 4 star resort at 2 star rates

the location is great , close to town ,acres along the river ,a pool & choice of cabins. service is friendly & helpful .Resturant has a choice of food however they prefer advanced bookings for better service

beautiful historic spot

This is a really nice hotel! It's listed on 'top ten things to do in Batti' as a place to have gin and tonic under the canopy sitting over the lagoon, and I can see why. The property was beautiful and well maintained, the pool was immaculate. I only ate the Sri Lankan food but it was delicious. My only complaint is the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and I left with a sore back, but if you're made of stern stuff it's completely the right place to stay in Batticaloa!
