Reservation somehow got moved forward a day.
The front desk stated I didn't have a reservation until the next day, and was only able to get checked in after chatting with Expedia.
Front desk run around included:
Saying sometimes this happens and he needed to contact Expedia;
Stating it was in fact me that needed to contact Expedia;
Asking to see the confirmation email, then to see it in the app, then asking for each again after not accepting the other;
Advising me to cancel my reservation in the Expedia app and pay directly to the hotel, and at a higher rate, no less;
He stated that I wouldn't be charged a cancel fee from Expedia if I cancelled through the app, and repeated this when I asked again to confim;
Assured me it was a very good rate despite being higher, and after I pushed back repeatedly, only then agreed to charge the original price on my reservation.
At this point, I was not confident he'd properly address the issue, so reached out to Expedia via chat.
They connected right away, called the front desk right away, and seemed to push some magic buttons that updated the reservation with the hotel to the proper dates.
The front desk indicated it was an Expedia issue and sometimes their servers didn't work right.
While very possibly the case, assigning blame after a thorough run around was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
Will not stay here again.
