I was worried about staying here after reading the negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Its in a great university area with easy transit, very clean and staff was super helpful and friendly. Yes it is on the older side but well maintained. Felt very safe and appreciated the lower price for the weekend. Would definitely stay again .

Very clean and close to PSU and downtown. Definitely dated, but totally adequate. Beds not amazing, but I slept fine. I stayed a year ago and the queen bed was better than the king this time. Pretty quiet and parking lot seemed secure. Will definitely keep staying here when I come to visit my PSU kid.

I had the best night's sleep I'd had in ages at this hotel. My room was quiet and the bedding incredibly comfortable. It was my first stay at University Place but certainly won't be my last! With the MAX light rail stop right across the street, it was easy to get around Portland without having to drive. Overnight parking was a more reasonable rate than many of the other Portland hotels and there's even a free breakfast. The staff was kind and helpful, too.

This place is passable for a place to stay. The room is reasonably clean. However, the building is quite old and it shows. One of the hallways smelled strongly of mold. The breakfast buffet is decent but the food isn't really much better than what you could get at the convenience store across the street. I would say this hotel is worth it if you need a cheap place to stay, but you get what you paid for.
