"Lovely hotel in a great location. Helpful staff. Received an upgrade to a suite which was an unexpected surprise. Continental breakfast was good but a bit disappointing that a hot breakfast option was an additional £10. Most breakfast included rates include hot food in my experience. Didn’t eat dinner in the hotel purely because we found ourselves eating in the good pubs of Salcombe each evening which were cheaper and just as good as any hotel restaurants. My only gripe about our room were the standard of the pillows. There were two rock hard misshapen (foam?) pillows that gave me a headache /neckache every night. So uncomfortable. I got an additional pillow delivered but it was still the hard misshapen foam variety. Guests love luxury plush feather/down pillows in hotels - why this otherwise lovely hotel doesn’t have them I have no idea. Really perplexing and not a luxury sleeping experience at all. Other than that good hotel but wouldn’t come back unless pillows were improved. Sorry!"

"When we arrived the door to our room was broken -- it would not open -- so they gave us another room. That room had no hot water, so they gave us another room. The staff was excellent, and the hotel is lovely. The location is very good."
