We had a great stay at Retrouvaille. The home is handicap friendly and the elevator was very helpful as the spacious main bedroom, kitchen and living space are all on the upper level. It is in an ideal location and the views from the large porch are spectacular. The owners were responsive and checked in with us while we were there to make sure our stay was going well. We will be back.

Retrouvaille at Pine Knoll Shores was the perfect beach rental for us grandparents (late 60s), three grandchildren (ages 7,6, and 5), and their parents (late 30s, early 40s). We can't wait to go back! The house is lovely and obviously well taken care of, with plenty of room to spread out, comfortable furniture and beds, and a well-equipped kitchen. We can hardly wait to go back! Jeff, the owner, was prompt to respond to inquiries and deal with internet issues (weather-related) that arose. He is definitely a super host!

Wonderful location in PKS. Breathtaking views of the ocean. Key for us with old folks and toddlers, easy ocean access, and an elevator. The downstairs, with a king bed, and private bath, And play room with bunkbeds, was perfect for my son, his wife, and two small children. We had a wonderful week at Retrouvaille! The main reason we chose this specific home was due to accessibility concerns; the elevator was crucial for allowing us to bring our whole extended family to the beach including my in-laws who have significant mobility issues. The house is fully accessible to those who have issues going up and down stairs. The path from the elevator to the main living area may be a bit tight for a wheelchair user due to the size of the dining table but would probably be manageable if you temporarily moved some of the chairs and scooted the table to one side. For people like my mother-in-law, who can walk but uses a cane and cannot do stairs, it was perfect. The en suite in the upstairs main bedroom has grab bars which were also helpful. The other two upstairs bedrooms each have a queen bed and share a bathroom with a double vanity. My husband and I stayed in the downstairs main bedroom, while our 4-year-old twins were thrilled to stay in the bunk bed in the rec room (which also has a private bathroom). The location was awesome, directly on the beach with a beautiful view from the upstairs deck. It was such a thrill to sit on the deck and watch dolphins swimming right in front of the house! Everything was in excellent condition and was exactly as it appeared in the pictures. The space was large and had plenty of room to spread out, which was nice for traveling with extended family. TVs with Rokus in every bedroom also meant we could spend some quiet time apart when we needed to, but come back together in the living area or on the deck. We had a very minor, non emergency maintenance issue which popped up on a Sunday afternoon, and the owner quickly responded to my text and had a handyman at the house the following morning. Overall I would enthusiastically recommend Retrouvaille to anyone traveling with a large-ish group (we had 7 adults and 2 children), or anyone with mobility issues that make stairs a challenge. I will note that the private beach access to get from the house to the beach does require the use of stairs, as well as walking up & down a sandy dune/hill which was challenging for me as a person who is able-bodied but quite out of shape but I honestly don't know if you could find any better in the area. The handrail on the stairs leading down to the sand was also pretty weathered and splintery which made me a bit nervous for my young children but they were fine. We had a wonderful stay and would 1000% book again!

We have stayed at at least 10 different properties on Emerald Isle over the years, and this was by far the best. Well stocked and well maintained, I can't say enough good about the property. Beach access was easy -- not nearly as many steps as other places we've stayed, and the indoor elevator was a blessing to us older folk, as we brought our luggage up to the bedrooms. We've already made our reservation for next year.

Everything was wonderful about our stay. The house itself was spectacular. It is well furnished with solid wood dining and bedroom furniture. Deck furniture seemed well made as well and the hammock on the top deck was awesome. Views from the deck were wonderful - so close to the ocean. My 97 year old mother spent most of her time just sitting there and watching the waves. The elevator is what made it possible for her to go with us, and it worked well. The house was spotless, and the kitchen was well equipped. The beach was beautiful. There were other people around but it was not at all crowded. We saw dolphins on our last morning! The communication with the owner and his representative Debbie was great. Debbie was proactive about getting us settled in and even found us an elevated toilet seat for my mom to use while we were there. When we broke a coffee carafe one morning Debbie was able to get us another coffee maker to use the same day. We had a great stay in this house! It is the nicest beach house we have ever stayed in!

This beach house was great for our extended family. Jeff was quick to answer any questions we had about an issue and followed up to make sure everything was fine. The location is beautiful and the house is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed a week full of wonderful memories!!

Great place.Everything about 119 Pinewood was perfect for our group. The downstairs king suite and nearby large play room, which housed bunkbeds and a crib, was perfect for my son, his wife, his two-year-old, and his four week old. The two queen bedrooms upstairs worked well for my daughter and her husband and for extra stuff. The king suite upstairs worked great for my wife and me. But the best thing about this house is its location, which couldn’t be better. It is close to the ocean, the views are spectacular, and the open spaces are more than sufficient. And for us, the elevator was a requirement and made all the difference. We definitely will consider a repeat performance.

We've been coming to Pine Knoll Shores every year for about 20 years. The view from this house was the best we've ever had. When we weren't on the beach, we were sitting out on the deck overlooking the ocean. The house was very clean and well equipped. There was plenty of space and the whole group enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend this place! You won't be disappointed!

Awesome location. Great stay. Thankful for the elevator and walk in shower for our elderly family members!! The beach was just steps away and the weather could not have been any more beautiful. We will put this house on the list as a great find!! Thank you, Cherry

After my vacation reservation was cancelled two days before my planned trip, with no alternative lodging, it was suggested I check out listings on VRBO. What a great suggestion! Our Host was super accommodating, the location is beyond spectacular, and the house was a perfect fit for our group. Pine Knoll Shores offers a much more secluded location than most of the rentals I have had at the Crystal Coast. Would highly recommend this rental - everything you could want and more.

This was our first time vacationing with another family that has children and the house was perfectly suited! The location is awesome! We practically had the entire beach to ourselves. The sweetest addition was the Cat in the Hat book that was personalized from the owners as a gift to the kids. A memory forever 😊

Location was fantastic. Beach was fantastic. Had some issues with initial cleanliness and upstairs AC not working. The owner worked with us during our stay to get these things resolved. Only other nit would be that the Playstation 4 was missing from the house. The owner did not know what happened to it.

We had a great week at the beach. The location is perfect and the beach is here is beautiful and uncrowded. Tons of space during low tide and plenty of beach during high tide. The water was clear, warm and calm. We spent much of our time out on the porch enjoying the breeze and the shade of the covered deck. The house was clean when we arrived. The main living/ dining area is ideal for hanging out with friends and family. Bedrooms are large with plenty of closet and drawer space. We also appreciated the convenience of having linens provided with the beds made when we arrived. We had a couple of maintenance issues, but for all the reasons I mentioned, I believe this is a five star vacation property.

Our week at Pine Knoll Shores was excellent. This property is ideal for a quiet family vacation. It is away from crowds but close enough for a short drive to food and entertainment. The house is clean with a large kitchen and dining area. Views of the beach are outstanding and the walk down to the beach is a short one. The back porch got a lot of use during our stay as the view is wonderful with a good ocean breeze. The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were very roomy. The upstairs master bath could use a larger shower how’s the bathroom is just as roomy as the bedroom. We usually rent places that have pools for the kids, but the walk was so short to the beach that we didn’t miss a pool at all. The elevator was a nice amenity for us as well. The landscaping around the house had become a bit overgrown, however landscapers arrived at the end of our stay to clean up around the house. Overall, this place provided a very good vacation for our family. We recommend the property and will likely be back. The homeowner was also very responsive to any of our questions.
